Recommend your Video Monitor

Yes, I know this is a silly request at this point in the game, but I decided to be cheap and get a "home security system" rather than a baby monitor for DD and the kickstand has since broken off the viewing screen and then last night, MH broke the antenna off the viewing screen thingy.

I need something that can toggle between two cameras and I like having a color screen.  And preferably something more sturdy than what I have, which is this (although when I bought it, it was only $110.) https://www.amazon.com/Uniden-UDW10003-Wireless-Surveillance-Portable/dp/B002KFZSJQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335877915&sr=8-1

  • we're happy with our summer infant slim and secure. It's nothing fancy, but we haven't had any issues with it. (I will say that I forget it even ha a color screen, since it's always at least dim in her room when we use it, it's always on night vision!)

Summer Baby Touch.  It's not cheap but it has the best day and night view I could find.

Eta.  There is just a button at the botton of the screen that lets you toggle so that is very easy

  • We have the $249 one from Motorola. The only think I don't like is that the speaker on the parent unit is always transmitting some sort of white noise. Our audio only monitor had and option to only make noise if the volume level went up, ie the baby started to cry/make noise.

Other than that, I love it. Easy to use, high quality camera/screen, even at night. And you can use up to 4 cameras with it.

We used a 20% coupon at BBB, to it was just under $200.

We have the Summer Infant Sleek and Secure.  I really like it but wish we had gone with the one that you could remotely move the camera around the room to check on LO.  We have it set on her crib and now that she is mobile she likes to get toys out of her room and I would like to be able to just watch on the monitor instead of following her.  I also see this being an issue once she is out of the crib.

  • Thanks, kids.  I'm leaning towards the Motorola because you can move it remotely and it has the temperature display and I'm something of a weatherbug.
