which model to you laides prefer? Do we have to buy the expensive one or is the base model ok too?
I just have the base one (yellow, I think it's DC07). From what I understand, the only difference with the animal model is that it has different attachments. Since we purchased ours (which was 5.5 years ago), they came out with a lightweight model...not sure about how it works, but it would be nice to not have to carry something so heavy.

We have the animal and got it in 2007 for $800+ but now it is less than half of that.

Sears has Dysons on sale right now. DH just showed me the ad for them Sunday.
I'll give you a non-Dyson option too. We got this Shark vacuum abuot 6 weeks ago to replace our in-house vac that keeps clogging and are loving it!

We have two black cats and light couches and curtains. I was amazed how how well it eliminated the cat hair!
We have this one too, and it works great.
We also have this one and it works really well. It's also sold at Costco and BBB.
