Gymboree Music Class Anyone?

Hi,Does anyone take the Gymboree Music classes? I would love to do a Kindermusik, but my son naps in the morning and the only times that work are 12:30 and later and it seems so hard to find classes for those times... except gymboree... I am trying to decide between music or the gym/play... he loves music though... Just thought I 'd ask if anyone has experience with this class? Is it a clean environment? It does gross me out that babies are putting things into their mouths that others have donethe same to.. I dont like germs, ha.. I at least admit it:)

Re: Gymboree Music Class Anyone?

  • We have done both (I am signed up for play/learn but we have done music class as a make-up several times). I love the music class!  The kids have such fun, and if your little one loves music, he will really get a kick out of it.  Our center is pretty mindful of cleaning the toys and instruments if they get gummed, so I've never been worried about it.

    Have fun!

  • I've never tried the music classes at Gymboree, but we did enroll DD in the Play and Learn classes and she absolutely loved it! If you're worried about the toys or musical instruments, they sterilize them after each class as well as the gym equipment. We took DD starting from 6 months to 13 months and I never had any concerns with germs or any issues with illness.
  • I have found that in reality, the Gymboree classes and schedule are much more flexible than they make it out to be on the website and contract. We are enrolled in Play & Learn but they welcomed us to come try a music class sometime, so we did one immediately prior to P&L one day. And I know anytime we felt like doing this again they'd be happy to have us, and like a PP said you can use it for makeup classes.

So I think it's kind of an unwritten practice that you can go back and forth between the different classes if you want to.

DS was actually pretty timid during the one music class we tried, so I can't say he absolutely loved it. But if we kept going back I'm sure he'd start to get more in to it. There were other kids there that were going NUTS dancing and playing with instruments - super cute. I'm sure your kid will love it! And like I said you can just talk to the staff and they'll let you try out both classes for free if you aren't sure which to sign up for. My DS likes music, but LOVES physical athletic type stuff so the Play and Learn class is a little better suited for him.

  • FWIW, I hate Kindermusik. I feel like I'm in some sort of WWII musical- most of the music is folksongs. I've never heard 99% of the songs- and I'm an early educator, so that's saying something.
