Jessica Simpson had her baby....

A girl named Maxwell Drew who was 9lbs 13oz.

Holy smokes that's a big baby. Also I am not a fan of the name.

Re: Jessica Simpson had her baby....

  • Finally -- I feel like she's been pregnant forever!

I read Maxwell is a family name from her FI's side and they plan to call her Maxi, which I think is cute.

  • I felt like she was pregnant forever!  I'm not aa fan of the name either.  I hate when people try really hard to make a boy name a girl name, or vice versa.  Maxwell is a total boy name, IMO.
  • Damn she beat Liam by 1 ounce :)

Whoa, that is a big baby.  Also not a fan of the name.  It is fine to go gender neutral for one name, but not both, IMO.  I have a gender neutral first and middle name, and people used to think I was boy.  I even got paired with a boy pen pal in the 3rd grade.  Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it always bothered me.

Maxi is not bad, but Maxwell is still a stretch

  • I like Max(i) for a girl.  I think that is precious.  Maxwell, not so much.  Oh well.  It's a family name I think, so I can let it go.
  • Poor woman!  EEK thats a big baby.  IMO Maxi reminds me of Maxi Pad, nms...hopefully no one else makes that association

  • Such a giant baby for such a small girl! Ouch. I'm not digging the name as a whole. Very manly. Even the middle name once it's added with the first. I can go for Maxi but not Maxwell. Oh well, I'm sure she's gorgeous.

  • Yep.  Not a fan of the name either.  DH really wanted Max if we had a boy, but I couldn't get on board with it (going through the possible nicknames, 'Maxipad' was one that came to mind).  At least it's not an out there name.

  • Not crazy about the name, but it's not my baby! I like Max for a girl, and I might have liked the name overall if she'd given her a super girly middle name. Like Maxwell Rose or Lilliana or something.

  • Maxi is a terrible nickname...who wants people to think of sanitary napkins when they hear your name?

I agree that Maxi is cute. I really like Drew for a middle name...even though it is my boy name to choice.

Exactly what I thought also. I really really cant stand the trend as of late to give girls boy names and vise verse  but hey its not my kid.

  • To each their own. One of my friend's named his girls with boyish names... but gave it a more girlish spelling... (Andy Madison and Alix Paige)  They do have girly middle names... I think it's something to do with his ex wife's side of the family, because all of her nieces and nephews had boyish names for the girls.

I can appreciate it being a family name, though I don't think there is anything wrong with naming someone after a family member and tweaking the name... I think that's the route I would have gone... Named her Maxine or something...

  • The name is definitely NMS, waaay too boyish for a little girl. I think Maxi is okay but all I think of is maxi pads.

9lbs 13oz... Yikes! Did she deliver vaginally?
