Secondary IF

Time is not on my side

When we started our testing for TTC#2, a year ago, I had an AF count done. My left had 6-7 and my right had 10-12. I always thought that as long as my right stayed strong, we'd have no problem.

Well, it's only gone downhill from there. Since starting our IUI's this year my right count has slowly declined. On yesterday's baseline I only had 6 on each side. Bleh. I'm only 28 and my ovaries are already giving up.

It's so weird because I come from such a fertile family! No one has trouble conceiving. I was an oops when my mom was 33 and my sister had her first at 36 without even trying. Whatever. I guess some people are just dealt a sh*tty hand.

Conceived DD after 15 cycles--- TTC #2 since 11/10---Me- Poor egg quality and supply---DH- Poor count and motility---2 rounds 75IU Follistim/IUI-BFN---5/12 150IU Follistim/IUI-Over-produced! Converted to IVF! 0 fertilized:( Rescue ICSI performed. 2 embryos transfered-BFN

Re: Time is not on my side

  • ((hugs)) I have no idea what my counts are and despite my bloodwork, I suspect I just have bad eggs. It sucks. I'm sorry. My family is very fertile too. It only takes one egg. Pulling for you!!!

  • I'm sorry. It sucks being the infertile one in a family full of fertiles.

Time is definitely not on my side either. I think my endo is getting worse by the second, and most likely we won't have very long to try on our own after my surgery.  BLAH.

  • 6 on each side is still a really strong number...I think at best I had 9 total combined!  But I definitely get the feeling like the only one in your family...my sister has 5 kids (two ooops - one at 37; although she did have 2 m/c - but got pregnant easily 7 times!)...she just had to look at her husband and "wham bam thank you ma'am" she was pregnant!  So it was tough going thru secondary IF...as I just assumed I'd have as easy of a time as my sister did and as easy of a time as it was to get pregnant with DD.  Don't give up though!  I'm glad to hear they are uping your dosage of follistim...praying it will be your lucky month!

    :(

We know that time is our enemy at this point.  But as the PPs said, it only takes one!  Hoping and praying like crazy your story "ends" on a happy note.  Oh, wait, I know it will, because you are who you are.  ;)
