I know we're still a little ways, but I'm just curious if anyone has any ideas for father's day gifts. It's my DH's first one (well DD was a couple of days old last year), so I would like to get something fun, but also meaningful. TIA!
I'm planning to get a collage picture frame and put all pics of Maya and DH in it. In the center frame I was gonna put a phrase like "Daddy's Girl" or a cute poem about fathers and daughters- maybe get a handprint on there if M cooperates. If DH goes all out for mother's day (my hopes are high but my expectations low), then I may add something else or an an activity to this.

I already got him a coffee mug made with a picture of DS and him on it and it says "Dad" then "Happy Father's Day", I will also get him a Bass Pro Shop gift card as well.
**February 20th, 2010 I Married My Best Friend and June 5th, 2011 My Soulmate Was Born**
Last year I got MH a glass coffee mug with Ashurs Daddy engraved on it. I like the idea of a photo collage PP mentioned. My sis did that for her husband after their first was born and he loved it.
We agreed that we aren't doing gift this year in order to save for our move at the end of next month.
I predict we'll see babies holding the letters DAD in a triple frame. Buy letters as the craft store and snap 3 pics and put the pics in a nice frame. It's popular every year. I might finally cave and do it this year and take a solo pic of each boy with the D and then both boys together with the A
ETA-link to a pic of what I am talking about...DAD letter pics will be all over the bump soon...happens every year.
MHs Birthday is at the end of may so he asked for a combined gift...a backpack blower (a leaf blower that you wear on your back basically). I was gonna get him that, but my stepmom asked what he wanted for his birthday and I mentioned that and asked if she wanted to go in on it, but they want to buy the whole thing for him....so now I'm back to square one with presents for him. He also wants a new pair of slippers, so I know that he'll at least be getting those.
I snapped some pics of K wearing a shirt that said "My Dad is my Hero" and had her holding/playing with his dog tags... I'm going to take one of the pictures and blur out his social security number, and then get a canvas print of it.

one tip if you want to do something like this, for valentines day, I did all her photos with blank frames and then photoshopped in letters. That way I could pick the best 3 photos instead of having to find one of each with the right words!
We will probably just spend the day together as a family- going to the mountains, walking in little shops, going out to eat, etc. I will prob suggest that DH goes to a baseball game another day or something with friends for some "alone time."
I bought a small, unfinished hinged wood box at JoAnn's. Last night, before he got home, Max and I did put a paint handprint on the lid. I will paint the words "Small Treasures" on the lid and then do some sort of protective varnish or something. (Not super crafty with wood, so will hav to look into what is best.) He can keep it on his dresser or nightstand for some of the little crap he's always accumulating. Wil probably get him a Gary Paulsen book he can read now and share with Max later, too.
I may be a little bias because this is my idea but it's still a good suggestion. Make him a book that lists all the reasons why you love him. The site is called LoveBookOnline.com. It's easy to do. You get to list all the reasons why you love him. You add all the little inside jokes and memories. You can add little characters to illustrate it. It's really cute and something he'll keep forever.

I bought this book for him to read to LO:
Daddy Hugs by Karen Katz

Other than that, we'll probably just plan a fun family outing for the 3 of us that day.
I have not even thought of fathers day as of yet but I love the DAD photo idea. I may have to try this. Thanks
peace,
