I posted a few days ago about how it seemed my county was doing something wonky about making me take FMLA and pay for my benefits over the summer. I went and sat w/ the HR coordinator yesterday and had her explain it to me.
DOH! I did what I accuse my students of doing. I didn't read the whole thing before coming to a conclusion. She put me down for FMLA protected leave from 6/8 through 11/5...the summer months don't count toward the usual 3 months.
Now, I'm no dummy. I'm not taking leave at the begining of the school year. I'd spend the rest of the year trying to assert myself and "win" back the authority of a classroom where the HS kids have "owned" the substitute for months. I'm just glad I understand what's up w/ the form. I'll have the OB fill it out tomorrow.
