Just need to Vent...

I know I dont post on here a lot..I mainly lurk...but...I just need to vent. I had my son 2 weeks and 2 days ago. I am a first time mom and am struggling with it all. I am feeling overwhelmed. I am married, but he works until 8-9 every night so its just me and LO all day! And during the day I feel fine and happy but at night..I get sad. And I resent my husband because he gets to leave the house and be around people and not have a baby hanging off his boobs 24/7. I love my son with all my heart, but I just want some me time. My husband keeps offering to watch him so I can get out of the house, but LO is going through this phase where he wants to nurse every 30 mins. And I went to the store last week for nursing pads and what not and I was gone for 30mins and I missed my son so much I almost cried! I just feel so stuck and am thinking I am selfish to want my son not on me all the time. Blah.... Sorry if none of this makes sense,,I just kind of rambled and needed to get this off my chest. I just need someone to talk to who understands what I am going through. I think the hubby thinks its easy to take care of a newborn all day....little does he know.... :/ Thanks to whoever read this! :)

Re: Just need to Vent...

  • It makes plenty of sense! You are totally entitled to want me-time and even more entitled to miss LO when you're away!

We're pumping and formula feeding, but ever since DH went back to work I feel like that guy off of th old dunkin donuts commercial. I get up, feed LO, change him, pump, clean bottles, do dishes, feed him, pump... It's all day every day and DH just doesn't get how much work it is.

You'll get through, though. Everybody tells me it's easier to handle it all once the hormones balance out a little it more. Good luck!

  • I'm sorry you're feeling this way, but its definitely normal.  I feel the same way--days are great, but sometimes nights are just so annoying.  I just want more than a 3 hour stretch of sleep!  I feel so much better when I take DD out for a bit during the day, whether it be on a walk, or on some errands just to get out of the house.  My DD is 4 weeks old and I fee like every day gets easier, but some days when she is cluster feeding it does drive me a little crazy and I feel trapped on the couch.
