Re: Clicky poll for BF moms

  • I think it took a while to feel it with DS1, but it only took about a week for me to start feeling them with DS2.  I feel it a lot when he cries, and yesterday discovered that I also get them when DS1 cries!  Yay me.

  • I don't feel it but I listen to her swallowing to tell how much she's getting, I can tell from that when the letdown happens

Don't feel it, not remotely concerned as weight gain is fine.

  • I feel like a 13 year old boy with surprise boners. If I think about when the next feeding is due, when LO cries, when LO goes more than 3 hours, and sometimes when I sneeze, I feel a letdown sensation. Pushing my nipples in prevents leaking and makes me look ridiculous.

  • Consider yourself lucky! I HATE the letdown feeling. I don't know how to really describe it, but it just feels nasty to me. I don't have crazy letdowns that occur when babies are crying or when I think about her though. I only feel it when I am feeding her, she's eating off one, and I will feel the opposite boob letdown.

  • I don't thpically feel it, though I often feel the after affect of a wet pad on the boob i'm not feeding with.  However, the other night I took a bath while DH bottle fed for the first time.  I hadn't pumped just in case. With my shirt off and heavy boobs, I felt it as i was getting ready to enter the bath.  I ended up bathing in my bra...   I didn't really have another option..  :)

  • I pump, but I never feel let-down when I'm pumping, and I don't think I felt it the couple of times she nursed after my milk came in either. I only feel if if I don't have something attached to my boob when it happens.
  • I never feel it in my boobs, but I get a tingly feeling around my left shoulder blade.  It's a weird sensation, and I can't really describe it.  It was the same with DS as well.

  • Yes, I feel it not when I'm nursing, necessarily. But if I'm wearing him in a carrier and he's close to me I feel that tingly feeling.

  • Heck yes I feel it. And right now I let down every 1.5 to 2 hours, even when he's not feeding. Nursing pads are my friends. It happens at random times. I got out of the shower earlier, was combing my hair and not thinking anything about DS and bam. I'm trying to be positive and tell myself it means my supply will stay good. Of course it also means I always smell like milk.

  • I saw a couple lactation consultants in the hospital and they showed me how to watch for LO's swallowing and then when my milk came in, the gulping sounds became a lot more obvious (they are adorable by the way) and loud! So I can tell he is getting milk. My letdown is pretty fast so he sometimes drools some milk out and will have to relatch.

You could weigh your LO (food scale is probably better) before and after a feeding and see how much he/she gained. They have special scales for that too.

  • I just started feeling it. Before, I would bend over and milk would just come out...no warning, nothing. Randomly, my shirt would be wet. Awwwwwkward.

Glad I have a little warning now...enough to bolt to check my nursing pads!

  • I don't feel it, so I'm always surprised to look down and see my shirt is soaked. *Sigh*
