Just a quick question about coughs...do you know what is safe to take? I have gotten a bad cold this weekend and have to get through tonight--will be calling my doctor in the morning. Thanks!
I just got a list from my OB the other day of safe medications:
For Cold/Sinusitis she listed:
Tylenol Cold Medication
Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine)
Benadryl, Actifed
Claritin
Afrin Nasal Spray (or generic equivalent) Use no longer than 3 consecutive days.
For Sore Throat:
Cepacol Lozenges
Chloraseptic Lozenges
Sucrets Lozenges
Gargle with salt water or Listerine
Halls, Vicks cough drops
For Cough:
Robitussin Cough Syrup - Regular or DM formula
Robitussin Cough Drops
Vicks Formula 44
These are the ones that my OBGYN hands out to everyone. She said they have been tested and are generally safe for pregnancy. Of course, you might feel safer calling your dr on your own just to be sure
"For this child I prayed; and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him:"
-1 Samuel 1:27
Thank you for your lists--I stayed home from work today, put a call in to my OB nurse, and haven't heard back yet--I will pick up some of these, I can't wait anymore!
Re: Cough medicine?
I'm not sure about that....I would call before taking anything. Sorry you're feeling crummy.

My list is similar to the PP with the addition of Mucinex being allowed.
Good luck! I've been battling a sinus infection/cold for the last week. Ugh.
