Probiotics?

DS has BAD gas pains. I was talking to a friend and her DD like my DS had IV antibiotics in hospital right after birth. She was told this could have rid her GI tract of healthy bacteria and to try probiotics to help her DD's gas pains/colic. She swears by them. Have any of you tried probiotics or know anything about them?

    The pedi put my baby on probiotics. He has a cow's milk sensitivity. So in addition to taking the probiotics, they switched him to a soy based formula and had me remove dairy from my diet. (I nurse and FF) The probiotics we use is Biogaia. It can be purchased at Target. He gets 5 drops once a day.

    My son has a lot of gas and the pedi recommended trying gripe water, gas drops, and this same probiotic. We have tried the gripe water and gas drops without any results and may try the probiotic next.

    Probiotics are our next step, I know dixie is using them. They get recommended at playgroup all the time.

    Probiotics kick azz! With DS I had a pp infection and was on IV antibiotics for 3 days and then about 1 month pp I got a uti and was on antibiotics again. I took probiotics so that he could get some through my BM plus I gave him extra. I really think that they can only help.

    Yep, we are.  Her gas is so much better now!  Her poop is on it's way to getting better.

    And like PP, she gets 5 drops a day in a bottle.  I drop them onto a spoon and stir it into a bottle.

    Stupid question... I started taking probiotics when I had mastitis and was put on antibiotics. I am EBF. Does she get any of it through my milk? Or is it such a minimal amount that it doesn't make a difference?
