When is a smile no longer a reflex? My baby is 5 weeks (adjusted 1.5 weeks). Since he was born at 36 weeks will it take longer than Normal to see this smile?

I know that I read around 4 weeks is when you start seeing a social smile, but I"m not sure if you have to adjust because of when your son was born.

According to my hubby (pediatrician), real social smiling happens around 2 months.

I heard 6-8 weeks for social smiling. I'm also curious since my LO was born 2 weeks early if everything will be delayed a couple of weeks.

I've heard 6+ weeks. Micah was 4.5 weeks early and just started doing it this weekend. It's amazing (and still rare for him)!

I smiled at my LO this morning (he will be 6 weeks on Thursday) when he was making his poop face. I asked him if he was "making stink" (how we refer to messing a diaper.) He smiled at me and gave me a half giggle. Too funny.
