I love it. I have a nephew named Abram (although I prefer Abraham) who is almost 3 and he goes by Abe which is a nice, short nn. As a cutesy name we say Abey Baby (although a little less now that he is older).

For me personally, Abraham Lincoln is too iconic, especially as Abe. I have nothing against the name itself, though. It's also very Biblical, but so were a couple of the names on our boy list.

We really like Biblical names but many are super popular right now. Eli/Elijah and Noah for instance are very popular but we love them. Many of the other names are too obscure. Hard to find a balance. We are also considering Paul but I just worry it is too blah.

Jonah was the Biblical name that was high on our list. I agree that the current extreme popularity of Noah is disappointing.

I like it. I was just wondering the other day why more people don't use it.

I don't find Paul blah at all. It's refreshing, actually. It's not used much anymore which is what makes me like it! Plus, I have so much respect for Paul in the NT.

Everyone IRL except my family doesn't like Paul. Hahaha. I like this place!
I like Abraham. I also like Paul. It is not common at all amongst the munchkin crew, and it would be refreshing to hear it. My BIL is Paul, and I him big time.
I like it. However, I probably wouldn't use it since the name is such a strong one to carry. I prefer Abram. I do love the nn Abe which would make the name Abraham easier to carry. Have you considered Abel? One of my favorite biblical names. I also really like Paul...very refreshing!
*Obviously* it's of the Presidential themed variety, but whether it's because of the strength of the name itself, or of one rather well-known Mr. Lincoln, I believe it's a powerful name that transcends well into normal usage, too.
There is something about this name that I HATE!! When I hear Abraham, I automatically think of the president, and then a cult leader who has many wives. I do not see the appeal.

Our third child is Abram and his middle initial is B and we can him "A. B. Baby" or Just "A.B." . When people would ask what we were going to name the baby, my 4 your old daughter would say " you know like the dead president Abraham" it took months to get her to remember and for us to get he to stop staying that line. it was a pain. before we found out it was a boy she called the baby sparkle, after we found out I had to tell her she couldn't call him that anymore.

LOVE. I love the nickname Abe.
I'm also a huge fan of Abram, which also allows for the NN Bram.
I have this song in my head now! Too funny. This brings me back to my childhood vacation bible school days. "I am one of them, and so are you..."
My furchildren, Dorothy and Johnny
I like it. It's NMS, but I think it's a great traditional name.
haha, exactly this. brings me back to sunday school days.
I've always liked the name.
