DS is FF, and has been for 2 months now. He had problems with it until we switched to Sensitive and ever since hes been great. The past few days, he suddenly has started spitting up chunky cottage cheese (sorry guys) puke every time he eats. hes hungry but just cant keep it down! He's already pushing 30 oz a day... it makes me wonder if even though hes so young he may need to start cereal? I was set on waiting until 4 months like my pedi had said but its like he cant keep all his food down and the poor thing is starving.
Id ask the Dr myself but we just moved to Texas and I havent found a new one yet. Thoughts?
Re: FF baby throwing up! :(
Nothing else unusual besides the throwing up? I'm wondering if maybe he's catching a bug?
hes sleeping more but thats about it. not more fussy or anything
We had the same thing happen - the girls were fussy when eating so we switched to Similac Sensitive, everything was fine for a while, then chunky throwing up. The pedi put them on Zantac and had us start using some cereal in their formula. They stopped the chunky throwing up right away and were just doing normal throw up once a day for a while, and now even that has stopped.
The one thing that I didn't like about the cereal was it made them eat less, and they were already only taking 18-20 ounces a day. Of course, yours is eating much more so it shouldn't be an issue for you, but we played with how much cereal we used until we got to a point where they ate a good amount still and didn't throw up/spit up. Now we use 1/2tsp cereal per ounce of formula and they eat 18-22 ounces a day.
Is he throwing up or spitting it all up? My pedi said the way to tell the difference is throw up smells really bad, spit up smells like formula. fever? any other signs he might just be sick?
If not I would try to switch formula and see that helps, try cereal see if that helps, also try burping him after every ounce. (have to do this with DD, she drinks way to fast then spits it all up if we dont)
Does he have reflux?
if all else fails call your doctor.
