Hi ladies,
I'm still too nervous to intro over here, but was hoping you don't mind if I ask a question.
I am still in shock, but believe it or not, my first and second betas have come back with great numbers (in siggy) and a doubling time of 35 hours. My RE is very happy with the results, but wants me to return for beta # 3 in one week...is that normal? I thought they were usually done every 2-3 days? Anyone know what kind of doubling time I should be looking for-- 31-72 hours or something else?
TIA!

Thanks so much! I thought for sure I would be off the hook for a 3rd beta OR if I had to return it would be on Wednesday.

We have the same drs office. They did a one week follow up with me also. I think it depends on the clinic.
04/04/12 ? Beta # 1 ? 134, Progesterone 106 ? 14 days
04/06/12 ? Beta # 2 - 283, Progesterone 96 ? 16 days
04/13/12 ? Beta # 3 ? 906, Progesterone 90 ? 19 days
04/16/12 - Beta # 4 ? 11,781, Progesterone 88 - 27 days
Thanks, Angela! I was hoping you would answer. Refresh my memory, when did you go in for your first u/s?

We went for our first OB ultra sound at 7 weeks.
Which was last Tuesday. We got to hear the HB :-) DH and I cried. So amazing!
Yes, I remember your post now
Wow...so you are graduated already? Did they do any u/s at the RE's office before you went to your OB?

I have an in-take appt on May 8th and I get to meet my OB on May 25th.
But I am still being watched by the RE's office because my left ovary is 21 cm with cysts on it. I have follow up ultrasound tomorrow to check on it. My right ovary is also swollen with cysts. I have been in pain since the ET. Last week I ended up with an emergency ultra sound because my stomach swelled up over night. It's not been fun. BUT on the bright side I get to see the baby and the HB :-)
My second one was 2 days later, and the third a week later. I also have to go in tomorrow for a 4th. Our RE doesn't do u/s until 7 1/2 weeks, so I think that's the reason for the follow up betas once a week. They just want to make sure everything is still rising and there is no reason to see you earlier.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Congrats! A lot of REs don't even do more than 2 betas and just wait until the first u/s after that.
My beta timing was weird because were going on vacation the day after the first one. So my first was at 11dpo, and my next one wasn't until I was 5w3d and they did the first u/s that day too.
One important thing to keep in mind is that once betas get into the thousands, like yours already are, the doubling time slows way down -- so don't expect to see it having doubled within the 48-72 time frame, necessarily. It might, but not necessarily and it doesn't mean there's anything wrong if it doesn't double that fast at this point.
I had one at 15dp5dt and another one a week later at 23dp5dt.... I think it just depends on the RE. They were still able to tell my doubling time even though the betas were a week apart.
Good Luck and hope to see you soon!
