DS typically lays down 2-3 hours after waking up and sleeps for 45 minutes. Then at about 2 in the afternoon he goes back down and sleeps for 1-1.5 hours. If we are out running errands in the evening he may take a cat nap in the car, but for the most part its just the two a day now.
The only advice I can offer for you is to do whatever it takes to keep LO awake so they will hopefully sleep longer at nap time. That never worked for DD. Up until she was 2 she only took 20 minute naps. She just wasn't a napper no matter how many/few naps she got in a day. Finally at 2 I got her to consistently take a 1 hour afternoon nap, but that was it even then.
LO naps for about 2 hours in the morning and and hour in the afternoon. Sleep training worked wonders for us.
This exactly. Saoirse was always a terrible napper but we just started sleep training her and napping has gotten so much better. After a full night of sleep she will be awake for about 3-4 hours, then take a 2 hour nap, then after a few more hours of awake time she will take an hour nap. Sleeping at night has gotten better since cutting out her third nap.
How long does your LO lay down for a nap and how many times a day? Ry cat naps alot. Any advice on how to get her to take less longer naps?
How long are you keeping her up between naps? I noticed when I started keeping him up longer, he started sleeping longer. It's not all the time, sometimes he still wakes after 45 mins, but I can usually paci pop and he'll go back to sleep. Now he is up about 3 hours before nap 1, 3 hours before nap 2, which are both around 1-1.5 hours, and 4 hours before bed (if all else goes well!).
Depends on the day. Some days it'll be shorter/more naps, but most is 2-3 long naps. 2-2.5 hours in the morning, 1-2 hours in the afternoon, she seems to have cut out the third nap most days now.
Usually 2 or 3 naps, depending on the day. Some days, she takes great 2 or 3 hour naps, and some days (like today), I am lucky to get 2 quick ones in. I have no idea what the reason is, and there doesn't seem to be a thing I can do to change it, unfortunately.
I have heard of the 2-3-4 thing, where that is how many hours LO stays awake between naps. My LO goes down for her 1st nap around 2 hours after she wakes up. Then depending on how long she sleeps, I'll put her down for her second nap. If her 1st nap is 45 minutes, I put her down for her second nap after 2 hours, and I'll probably get a 3rd nap that day. If the first nap is 1.5 hours or longer, I keep her up for 3 hours, and won't try for a 3rd nap. We follow The Sleep Lady and she says around 9 months they start to drop that 3rd nap. My LO barely naps at daycare so she really makes up for it on the weekends. I kept her home yesterday and she took two 3 hour naps plus a third 45 minute nap. She was tired. :-)
