I need remedies!

I'm currently 14 wks with twins and I have the absolute WORST acid reflux! I had occasional episodes before I was pregnant, but now it's every single day.... I'm so tired of my throat feeling like it's on fire!

Are there any remedies you ladies know of that can help me out?!

Re: I need remedies!

  • A spoonful of apple cider vinegar. My H swears it works instantly.

  • I had it some at the end of my pg with DD. I found that eating smaller meals helped some. No advice on what to take. Hope you don't have to deal with it your whole pg.

  • Ok my FIL swears that a teaspoon of baking soda mixed with a glass of water takes all of his reflux away. He just downs the whole glass like a big shot. He swears it works.

  • Milk or dairy will help to.  I like warm milk with a few drops of vanilla.

  • here is what the list from my OB suggests:

1 tsp of apple cider vinegar in 1 cup of water. Sip it don't gulp it.

Maalox and Tums are also on this list.

  • My OB said Zantac is just fine, and she even told me I could take the prescription dose from a box (basically just 2x 75mg pills 2x a day) if needed. I only have had to take one at a time, but it really helps! I have heard good things about apple cider vinegar, too... That, and if I avoid acidic foods it can really help, too. Hope you find a remedy that works soon!

  • I am in the same boat, the last week it's been brutal, I've been taking 10+ tums a day. Ugh. I have to say I like the tums freshers, they are like antacids but mints too and they don't have the chalkiness of the regular tums.

Other than that I have no good suggestions. If it is still bad this week I'm going to call by OB and see if she'll let me take Zantac or something.
