Infertility

4 days post ER and still aching...

Hi ladies, i'm a long time lurker and occasional poster

This is my second ER (10 good embryos!) but I still feel achy after 4 days.  I know there isn't any infection or anything (no bloating, pain, blood) but I was wondering if any of you had the same feelings? Just achy, feel like my ovaries are bruised (probably are...) Since the last ER was over a year ago I can't seem to remember how I felt last time.

We are doing our transfer tomorrow morning, feeling hopeful but keeping my expectations in check.

Re: 4 days post ER and still aching...

  • Its totally normal. I had aches for almost a week after. Your ovaries have been through a lot and it takes a while for them to get back down to size, especially if there is HCG in your system. My RE told me that it sometimes takes several weeks to a month for them to get totally back to normal.

Good luck at your transfer tomorrow!

  • Yes, I had the same feeling, but it wasn't OHSS. It took about 4 days for me to feel even barely back to normal. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow and then you can rest up and feel good.

  • Awww Thanks ladies for the support!  It's nice to know that these feelings are normal.  I didn't want to pester the nurses any more than I already have, so your comments put me at east!  If you think about it we should be pretty darn sore after what our ovaries have been through....growing more than twice their normal size then being punctured multiple times!

Excited for tomorrow, and the bed rest that follows!!

    What are you watching??

  • Even with only 7 follies I was still hurting for 5-6 days after ER.  Hope you feel better in a day or two!  Good luck with your transfer.

THIS. I was severely constipated from the progesterone too which made it much worse. Miralax is your friend. By the time I was off bedrest from ET, I was feeling much better.

    Good luck!

  • Oh my gosh! I totally felt like I was hit by a bus! I don't remember how many days it took to feel better, but drink lots of water and rest! I watched a lot of trashy TV...that definitely helps! ;) My pain was nothing compared to the drama of the "Real" housewives! ;)

Feel better soon, take a nice warm bath, use a heating pad, drink water and eat something salty (my RE said? weird!).

  • Awesome , thanks ladies!!!  And I hope I can get Mirilax in Canada, the prune juice is getting old.  As for the real housewives, I have been saving them up along with Mob Wives for bed rest!

Thanks for the warm wishes.  Fingers and toes crossed!!!!
