Too few diapers in the wash?

I do laundry daily. With a HE front-loader, is it possible to wash too few diapers in a cycle. I haven't started CDing just yet, but am going to begin with prefolds. How many is too few, if that's possible? I'm thinking maybe I'll go through 6-7 in a day. Additionally, if you use prefolds, can anyone comment as to the difference (if any) between the unbleached Osocozy, GMD, or cotton babies? Thanks a ton!

    Is there a reason why you would wash daily?  Every other day would be totally fine. 

    I've only ever used GMD prefolds, which I loved, but I've heard good things about Osocozy prefolds and the Indian prefolds at CB.

    Yes, if you've just got 6 prefolds in a load you may have issues. There needs to be enough to agitate together and get enough water to load the machine.

    The good news is that you'll likely go through 12-15 at first, so feel free to wash every day. Later on, you will probably want to go to every other day. A good pail has no smell if that's your concern.

    I think if your only doing 6-7 in a load you should throw some towels in there to help move everything around. If you weirded out doing towels with diapers, I'm not since it all gets clean anyway, you could always designate a few to keep just for diaper loads. But on a newborn, it won't be 6-7 if you go full time, even if you use disposables at night.

    Oh! Towels are a good idea, if I don't have enough diapers. Duh. DD is 6 months now. I missed the NB phase :-( Thanks for your thoughts!

    I normally wash every three days, with the water level on super. If I have to do just one day's worth, I would set the water for a medium load. (basically, I look at what's in there and set it one level higher than I would if it were clothes)

    My baby is 10 months and we still go through at least 8-9 diapers during the day & one at night. She only poops every other day too. You will likely go through more diapers a day than 6-7. I'd get 2 dozen and wash every other day. :) Prefolds wash great (when you have a full load) and dry easily in the dryer or in the sun.

    If you're going to wash daily, I would get at least 18, just to give yourself a bit of leniency with the laundry. It would suck to need a diaper and have to wait for the dryer. Or what if LO gets sick and has to be changed more?
