IUI+Metformin

So we are expecting to have our first dIUI in a few weeks, a month at the latest.... currently, I'm on Metformin for PCOS related symptoms, but the other day I read on the bottle that Metformin shouldn't be taken in women who are trying to get pregnant.... obviously, I'm going to ask my RE about it in a few days, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had to discontinue using it before or after IUI. Thanks

Re: IUI+Metformin

  • A lot of people with PCOS stay on Metformin through their first trimester. PCOS can increase your risk of miscarriage and Metformin is thought to help lower that risk. We have only done TI, but I've never stopped taking it except before my (cancelled) HSG.

  • I've been on metformin for years. And in the last year of actively TTC with help, I've never stopped taking it. No one has ever suggested that I stop either.
