S/O Psycho Squirrel Costume: Halloween Costumes for LO?

Since we will be having our babies soon before Halloween, I was wondering: do you plan on dressing up your LO for the occasion and what ideas have you had?

I had thought some sort of hatched egg costume could be sweet and still comfy for LO. I could decorate his/her carrier like a little broken egg or nest and make it all cute without really torturing the child!

My mom always helped make us the coolest costumes when we were younger and I loved it. Obviously my 1-month old won't give a shyte this year, but I'd still like to set the precedent :)

Edit: in case you missed... this was the original post that spawned my question: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/65525194.aspx

  • I'll be dressing him up but I have no idea what I'll dress him as. Note to self: start looking at Halloween costumes!

  • I LOVE Halloween, so I will definitely be dressing her up!
  • I haven't decided on exactly what yet, but since we'll have a  2.5 year old to take trick or treating, I plan on doing a babywearing costume. I saw some cute ideas last year, like I'm a tree and baby is some sort of animal that climbs trees or a kangaroo...something like that. Basically, you decorate your carrier and just any exposed baby parts (like a cute hate), and you have a costume!

I thought about that! I figured a Kangaroo could be really cute :) Definitely a great idea if you are going to be trick or treating! We'll probably just be out for a tame party with friends or we'll throw one (a small one) ourselves. But I guess we'll have to see -- since I'm due in late Sept, baby will still be quite little at that point!

I already have a Teddy bear hoodie for the kid. Found it at a consignment shop. Halloween is big in my neighborhood and when I saw it, I had to have it.

  • I have actually been looking at halloween costumes a lot! We have a baby bee costume that my younger brother wore on his first halloween and it was the cutest thing ever. There are lots of options on amazon.com or etsy if you want to go a custom way.

  • I'll probably just get them a halloween themed sleeper or something with a matching hat =) DD2 and DD1 will be in costume though. Hmmm. I think eventually we'll be on our way to theme costumes as family ;-)

Hahaha! Our kid doesn't stand a chance.  Last year, DH, our dog, and I dressed up as Doc Brown, Marty McFly, and Jennifer Parker from Back to the Future.  Our dog's name is Marley, so he was 'Marley McFly'...lol...  So, yeah...if we're willing to put our poor Lab through that...our kid doesn't stand a chance.  I'm SO excited about Halloween this year.

  • we are obsessed with costumes & halloween in our house, so I'm really looking forward to a costume for LO :)  My DH is the biggest freddy krueger fan out there, & actually has his own business making recreations of freddy gloves.  We have people asking us all the time if he's started on a tiny freddy glove for LO lol.  I can't believe how cute this costume is!!!  it even has a little crocheted glove!  I must have it ^_^

My husband wants to dress the baby up as The Stig. I think that we should wait until baby gets a little bit older before The Stig would be cute. We'll talk about it more :)

LMAO! I sense one of these costumes in our future, too.

Just to give you an idea of my DH...he has a vanity license plate that reads BIGSTIG (from the episode where Big Stig was The Stig's portly American cousin).

  • I've had costumes planned since about a week after I found out I was pregnant...

SS is going to be a football player, DD will be a cheerleader, and the baby will be a football! lol

Since we will be taking DS trick or treating for the first time this year, I will get something for the baby to wear in the stroller. Probably just a hat and I will swaddle the baby in a blanket.

Girl, her name will be Mary so I have to do a Lamb hat  https://www.etsy.com/listing/94824696/little-lamb-earflap-beanie-hat-newborn?ref=sr_gallery_3&ga_search_query=newborn+lamb+hat&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=ZZ&ga_min=0&ga_max=0&ga_search_type=handmaderef=sr_gallery_22&ga_search_query=newborn+hat&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=ZZ&ga_min=0&ga_max=0&ga_page=5&ga_search_type=handmade

Boy, maybe a puppy hat in blue: https://www.etsy.com/listing/97255095/puppy-in-pink-puppy-dog-newborn-hat-also

For those wearing LO, this is a cute DIY from Martha Stewart: https://www.marthastewart.com/how-to/spider-web-mother-and-sock-spider-baby-costume

I am LMAO over here... my husband would LOOOVE this... Top Gear is his FAVORITE show and he DVRs all the episodes and gives me the play by play. He even asked if we could name the baby Ferruccio (after Ferruccio Lamborghini).

Unlike my DH, I think the pea pod costume is adorable, and much more age appropriate for a 1 month old :-)
