Cloth Diapering

Toddler nighttime options

Hi there! Cloth diapering has been wonderful for our family so far, but recently this nighttime issue has come up. My daughter will wake up in the middle of the night, fuss a bit, and eventually tell us she needs a new diaper. We change her and she goes back to sleep. Not the end of the world, but we all prefer an uninterrupted night of sleep! We use a fitted and wool pants. I've tried a fleece liner to see if that would help her feel more dry. (The past few nights we've used disposables and she hasn't woken, but we had a leak issue last night. Plus, I think disposables are kind of weird- out of my comfort zone at least- and would like to keep doing cloth all the time.). Any suggestions? Edit: I wanted to add that the diaper isn't saturated, just slightly wet when she is complaining.)

Re: Toddler nighttime options

  • Maybe you need a more absorbent fitted or need to add a doubler to the ones you are using. For night we also always use a fleece liner to help him feel dry. The night fitteds we use are: OSC, Sbish OBF, Twinkie Tush Night Night, BSRB TIAN. My son is a very heavy wetter and all of those work great. HTH.

  • If the diaper isn't soaked and you've already tried a fleece liner to wick the moisture away then there might not be much you can do. It sounds more like she's just at a stage where she doesn't like being wet or in a dirty diaper at all

this. We use sposies at night, we go up a size too.

I have done a FB mediums with hemp and bamboo inserts and they work fine. Maybe a pocket diaper would help?

  • I would also suggest going to a pocket.  I use a bamboo and hemp at night for the boys sometimes, and it's more than enough.

  • Thank you so much for the help! I will definitely remember to try a pocket diaper with extra inserts. didn't even cross my mind. Thanks!
