Babyville boutique PUL

My Aunt has made me some covers out of babyville PUL and I'm finding that it tends to leak if my DS is in it for a few hours and it isn't changed frequently. Does anyone else have this problem or use babyville? I have already tried resealing in the dryer.

Are there other brand recommendations, maybe that I could order online that work better for sewing my own covers?

Re: Babyville boutique PUL

  • First, any cover is going to leak if you leave it on for hours without changing frequently. How often do you change LO's diaper cover? I change with every diaper change so that the cover has a chance to dry out between uses.

Second, where are they leaking from? This will help identify the problem if there is one.

The babyville PUL has a bad rep for delaminating. I think that they have fixed this problem, but I'm still nervous to buy it. If you are looking to buy PUL, I've bought from very baby and wazoodle.

  • I guess I should clarify. I don't leave it on for hours unless he's asleep. I normally change every hour to 1.5 hour unless he's napping.   Sometimes the leak is my fault because I didn't make sure the diaper was tucked completely in, but the issue I'm having is leakage near the front flap where the Velcro is sewed.

I change the cover with each diaper change as well. Do you wake your LO up to change a diaper?

  • What type of thread was used?

  • Hmmmm, good question. I'll ask, what type should be used?

this. If it wasn't 100% polyester thread it can wick moisture to the outside. Also, while I haven't made any covers myself, all the PUL covers I have include an extra layer of PUL over the area where the snaps or velcro are attached.

No, I definitely don't wake up to change a diaper!  I agree with PP that the type of thread used may be the problem, cotton thread will wick moisture. Let us know what you find out.
