Puree Strike?

Does anyone else have a LO who loved purees and suddenly stopped eating them? For the past 3 days or so my little guy refuses to let me feed him anything with a spoon! I am thinking this is way of telling me that he is ready for chunkier food?

I practically have a panic attack giving him a cheerio! I know lots of people do BLW but I'm just not there. Any tips on how to make things interesting for him so he will keep eating? Should I be moving into more table/finger foods?

  • DD did that with her pureed veggies. She's finally back to taking her yellow/orange veggies, but I still have to mix her green veggies with a little applesauce to get her to take them.

  • my DD is doing that too, I thought it was really strange!  The last few days she has been sick and only on formula so we will try solids agian tomorrow.  Hopefully its just a phase!

  • DD did that for a little over a week.   She is now back at loving them.  Even the fruit, which she didn't like before.

  • My DS did this and we only were on purses for a month or so (started soldier at 6 months). It's messy but if I gave him the spoon to feed himself it made him much happier. I would put the food on the spoon and then leave it on the highchair for him to do himself. Then I made sweet potatoes and avocado and bananas that I mushed up and in tiny pieces so he wouldn't choke. I also would break up the puffs and yogurt bites He is now 9 months and is only eating finger foods. BLW scared me so did a modified version. I also spoke to the pedi and he said not to worry about DS not wanting to eat as it is just for play and discovery right now.

  • Thanks for all the tips Mamas! We had some success with some yoghourt drenched cheerios this morning, and he ate almost a whole banana just eating little pieces of it!
