Still no leaky boobs

Nothing is happening....DH is worried I won't be able to breast feed like I want to and I'm getting worried myself now. I've had a breast reduction over 2 years ago but they never removed my nipples kept everything intact. I think I'm just looking for reassurance and hoping its normal for nothin to happen during pregnancy then being able to breast feed after baby is born.

Re: Still no leaky boobs

  • It is normal. My mom was surprised that I was leaking because she never did, but actually had oversupply issues.

  • I havent leaked at all either.

Either way is normal. Talk to a LC

  • Thank you ladies that is reassuring for me, my main worry is that my surgery might effect my breast feeding abilities and I've been hoping for something just to put my mind at ease but I guess it's looking like I'm gonna have to wait till D-day to know for sure.

  • No leaking here. My boobs also haven't gotten much bigger with pregnancy - still comfortably wearing my pre-pregnancy bras (34B). I'm with you in wishing I had some physical signs assuring me breastfeeding will go as planned. Hopefully we'll both be good little milk making machines :)
  • the first pregnancy I had colostrom leak out of one boob one time that was some point at the end of the 2nd trimester.

This time nothing and im so happy. It is completely possible to nurse without having any leaks before hand and I prefer it.

  • I never leaked when I was pregnant with DD and was able to successfully breastfeed. I also have not leaked at all this pregnancy either.

I haven't had any leaking either, and when I asked my doc about it she said not everyone gets their colostrum early, and even if you do, it's totally normal to not leak. I kind of squeezed around my areola and sure enough, some came out, so that made me feel much better!

  • This is my second pregnancy and I haven't leaked with either one so far.  I was able to express a drop or two at a time during my first pregnancy.   With this one I'm able to express more.   I successfully nursed DS.

That said, due to the breast reduction I would look into contacting a Lactation Consultant.   I would look for someone who has experience working with women who have had breast reductions now.   Then just keep their number handy in case you run into difficulties once little one is here.

  • I had breast implants put in three years ago and was also worried about nursing. While I am not leaking, I am able to squeeze some liquid out of my nipples. Have you tried that? Gently massage the breast, pushing any fluid towards the nipple. Give the nipple a gentle squeeze or two at the base and see if anything comes out. Sounds kind of yucky, but if you really want to see if anything is going to come out, that should work.

  • I leaked colostrum a total of ONCE so far this pregnancy, at around 34 weeks.  Nothing since then.  I have even tried squeezing my nipple/areola and nothing comes out.  I'm not worried.  we had a breastfeeding class a couple weeks ago and the LC said not leaking during pregnancy doesn't mean anything.

  • I am 39 weeks today and haven't leaked at all.
  • I'm not leaking either, but if I take a hot/warm shower, when I get out I can squeeze some out... just start at the base  where it meets your chest, and firmly push towards your nipple.

  • I never leaked with DD #1, she was born on a monday night, my milk came in Wednesday and I had an oversupply for the whole 10 months I nursed. Everyone is different. I haven't leaked with this one yet either.
