We were looking at the carseats at Target last night. Specifically the Britax Marathon one and the Titan Elite one. The Titan Elite seemed to have the best padding.
We want to keep Nina rear-facing as long as possible. All the convertible seats said they were able to be rear-facing, but only up to 35 pounds.
I thought it would be longer than that, to use it rear-facing? I mean, the infant seat we have now is a Snugride 32, so she can use it up to 32 pounds....seems weird that the convertible seats are only good for another 3 pounds. And there are infant seats that go up to 35 pounds....
Am I just confusing myself?
When will a baby be 35 pounds?
We have to get two carseats b/c DH drops off and I pick up at daycare, and they don't let you leave a seat there. I could go home first and trade cars...but that seems silly.
Help? Thanks!
Re: Another convertible carseat question
A lot of carseats are still specified to the old standards (1yr and 20lbs)
Most of them went over 20lbs because a lot of babies are 20lbs and no where near 1yr (both of mine were 6 months old).
As for when baby will be 35lbs is dependent upon your child. My DD who is 21 months is 35lbs. Now both of my kids are extremely large no matter how you measure them.
The average height and weight for a 2yr old girl is 30inches and29lbs.
ETA: The average weight for a rear facing car seat is 40lbs. There are still some who haven't caught up to the new regs that are 35lbs limit.
The highest RF weight I have seen is 45lbs and that is Diono Convertable (previously Sunshine radian) but they're around $300.

Thanks! I think I was confused about the inches and the pounds....LO is 30 inches so she's only 2 inches away from being too big for her infant seat, but she's not quite 20 pounds, so she has a ways to go there. I was thinking she'd be in her infant seat until she was 32 pounds....but that would not be the case.
I will check out the specs again. I feel like we need to buy these sooner rather than later. I don't think she'll make it to her bday....
Thank you!!
