Team Green

Stopping in from the second trimester board. Did any of you all stick with Team Green until the end?  Was it worth it or do you wish you would have found out earlier?

I stayed team green til the end. It was totally worth it. The doc said its a boy and all I could think was, it's a boy! It's a boy! I had a lot of ultrasounds towards the end and somehow everyone kept it quiet. I think I'll be team green again if there is a next time. :)

  • i stayed team green, my DH knew since 24 weeks (and had to keep a secret). i am glad i held out... even though i was convinced it was a boy, when she is a girl!!!! DH bought a coming home outfit, and kept it hidden. he wishes he had been team green, too (or at least been on the same page as me).
  • I was Team Green for my first two, but found out this time around.  Honestly?  I'm disappointed we found out.  I totally missed the "OMG really?!" moment when this one was born, but as it was the third and probably last baby we had so much pressure from family to find out...

So whenever anyone asks me if they should find out, I don't recommend it.  The experience is that much more special when you don't know...

    My two cents.

  • We were team green and it was awesome! I was high risk and had 2 u/s per week toward the end, but we were still able to keep it a secret. When the docs said 'It's a Boy' I had to ask DH to repeat it. I was just so shocked. We both cried! It was totally worth the moment and we will never be anything but team green!

  • I also recommend being team green. It was so exciting finding out when LO was born! Plus, you get stuff you actually need at your shower(s) rather than a bunch of clothes.

  • Team Green here, one of the best decions we made.  DH announce "it's a boy" and the whole OR erupted in cheers.  Such an amazing moment!

  • Team green for both my pregnancies.  It makes it that much more exciting.  I also loved hearing peoples prediction on gender :).  I had 2 girls and the pregnancies were complete opposites so I was shocked yet thrilled to have another little girlie.

  • I was team green throughout.  If it wasnt for my husband , i prob woul've caved, but i'm glad we disnt find out.   My gut feeling was girl, but I didnt trust it and 80% of other people's predictions was boy.  And it's a GIRL!  :)

  • We were team green and I'm still in awe that it's a girl--that I have a daughter. And it really gave everyone something to look forward to with the birth. Everyone was excited to hear the answer! We will be doing it again :)

  • We have been green for both of our kids.  I love guessing and getting our reaction as well as the reaction of everyone in the waiting room.

    So worth it!

  • I was team green both times.  I never regretted not finding out. DH didn't want to know with DS but I did. I had 18 u/s with him (many where he wasn't with) and never caved.  It was an awesome experience to hear the OB during my c/s to say Happy Birthday Kalvin!  She had asked us our names prior to the c/s that day.

With DD, it was much easier not finding out since we had everything neutral and only needed to by a double stroller.  I have 1 1/2 large 20 gallon bins of gender neutral clothing.  I had over 26 u/s with her and DH was only at 3 (two of them prior to 8 weeks) and I never even thought of caving.

Now we were in a bit of a shock during her delivery since she was 3 weeks early and we weren't prepared, heck we had to call someone to pick up DS since he went with me to my appt before I was sent to L&D for contractions 1-2 minutes apart.  We couldn't settle on a boy's name, I hated his #1 pick and he hated mine. I remember asking him if he could live with my name since I couldn't live with his while they were doing the surgery.  We never picked a middle name for a boy.  I could've sworn she was a boy even to the point during the pregnancy that I told DH that he could name the girl, I'll name the boy.  He called her Kandy the entire pregnancy, he thought she was a girl the entire time.  So I was still telling DH the name is going to be Kaleb when they said It's a girl!  I was flabbergasted and DH was basking in the thought of a daughter and being right.  No, her name isn't Kandy, we used our girl choice we had with DS.

Both times the nurses that we had prior to surgery and the surgery team were excited too as they said they don't get many that don't already know.  I remember both times that nurses would stop in (even though they weren't my nurses that day)  to see what we had.

This for me too:)  I would definitely do it again if we decide to have another one! Everyone in the operating room was very excited for us too.  I already have a son, and I thought I would be happy either way, but when my doctor announced that it was a girl, the happiness I felt was more than any words can describe.

  • It was absolutely worth it.  I loved wondering and day dreaming about if I was carrying a little boy or girl.  Everyone thought it was a boy!  Our widwife was sooo excited that we didn't find out.  I liked that at our a/s they did not put a gender on the chart, so nobody knew.

Our midwife let DH help deliver her and announce to everyone that it was a girl!  I was in total shock (even though deep down I thought it was a girl!). Then he got to go out to the waiting room and announce to our moms we had a daughter.  It was awesome and will totally wait the next time too! GL!

  • It was well worth it. I can't even begin to describe the immense amount of joy I felt hearing my doctor say "It's a boy" as he handed me my son.

Me too. I loved the excitement during my pregnancy wondering what it would be. And finding out when the doctor held her up and DH looked and announced, "It's a girl!" was so awesome. Something I will always remember. We found out at the a/s with DD #1 and that was neat too, but in a totally different way. I never came close to caving (which drove some family members nuts!) and I would definitely do it again.
  • I loved being team green. You will save a lot on spending before the baby arrives as we found it hard to find a lot of neutral things. But the only think that was dissappointing was that I ended up being put under with an emergency c-section so DH new the gender before I was even out of surgery. It would have been nice for both of us to find out at the same time. I'm bummed that i missed his reaction when they said BOY. He said that he cried.
