Babies: 0 - 3 Months

4 week old bedtime?

what time do you officially put LO to bed?  i was waiting until after her 9-10pm bottle, but wondering if i should just get into the habit of swaddling her and taking her up at 8pm, and then when she wakes up at 10, just doing the bottle and putting her back down.

  • We were doing the same thing.  For the past week or so, we have been putting her down at the first feeding she has after 7 pm.  If she wakes up again at 10 or 11, we feed her and put her back down.  There was one night she ate at 7:30 and didn't wake up again until like 2 am.  Wish that happened every night!

  • Around 10-11. He dozes in the living room with us from 8 on, but his longest stretch isn't until close to 11 so I don't bother putting him down.

  • I really don't understand pushing a "bedtime" when baby is that young.  I just keep Molly with me until I head up to bed.  They won't establish a schedule until they are several months, so you can't really rely on them to be consistent at this age.

Molly nurses on demand all evening and then when I go to bed I lay her in her cradle.  She doesn't usually stay there long, then I nurse in bed throughout the night.  It is the only way we can all sleep.

  • We don't have a bedtime and probably won't until he's a lot older. Right now he usually eats somewhere between 8 and 9:30 and I put him in the PNP after that feeding. I go to bed as soon as he's asleep. After that feeding we often get around 5 hours and then he's back to feeding every 2.5 - 3 hours.

  • I put my LO down after his last bottle, usually 10 or 11. I like keeping him in the living room with us until then, he is so cuddly :)
  • I'm not setting any sort of schedule right now, while he is still so young.  Typically it works out that he goes down around 9-9:30.  He is an excellent sleeper so I'm not worried about it at all.

  • I don't have a set bed time for either of my kiddos because I stay home & DH works 6days a week...so since I am a night owl I let them stay up (DD usually is ready around midnight & DS does his 6hr stretch from about 10pm-4am) Then we all get up for the day around noon. I have been VERY lucky that both my kids LOVE to sleep, just like me! :) I actually will be trying to get into more of a schedule because DD just started Mothers Day Out on Mon& Wed. So I am going to try to get everyone up about the time DH leaves for work (8or8:30) so we can start doing more during the day. I honestly don't know how well that will work, I already napped away one day that she was gone, lol. So, like I said TRY!:)

  • We have just started (past 3 nights or so) doing this... LO feeds anywhere from 8-10 pm, then I head up to bed and DH stays downstairs with him (he usually falls asleep) until he wakes up for his 12-1 am feeding. DH does this with a bottle (pumped milk) and then brings him up to bed with us for LO's 4-5 hour sleep stretch. Then I get up to nurse him and we come back to bed and hope to get another hour or two of sleep. Then LO and I get up and start our day and give DH another hour or so of sleep by himself. I wasn't getting enough sleep at all so we had to do the one bottle feeding per night, but we might switch back to me nursing all of his feedings. We'll see.

This is what we do exactly! He's up for the day at 7am. I can't imagine putting him to be so earlier than 8pm, that's when we get home from work!
