what was it like?
according to one of my doctors, i'm 39 weeks today...according to another, im 40 weeks tomorrow. regardless...full term.
this morning when i got up, a trickle of cloudy fluid ran down my leg. probably about a tablespoon. since then, there's been nothing else. if this was my water bag breaking or even a small leak...i would see more throughout the day, right? im thinking this may have just been discharge, but not sure. i never experienced anything like this with my last pregnancy.
anyone ever have a similar experience?
UPDATE: i had my doctor check it out and it was not a leak...just an increase in watery discharge which she said is normal, esp. towards the end. thanks again for all your feedback...its crazy how different everyone's experiences are!
Re: if your "water broke" or leaked...UPDATED
OMG I can't believe you're 39 weeks! Congrats!
I felt like I had been "leaking" all day and kept wondering if I was just peeing a little bit. I figured if it was my water breaking that it would be a gush. So I just kept waiting and then around 5:30 that evening I stood up from the couch and there was an undeniable little gush. Nothing crazy but definitely more than just a leak.
So maybe it's coming..?? Good luck with everything and can't wait to see pics. You better post some on here or fb!
I had something similar and it was my water breaking.
It happened once and I didn't think anything of it because I had just sat down to go pee. Then, I started to feel like I was going to leak - almost the feeling you get when you're on your period and you know you need to get a tampon soon. But it wasn't anything drastic at all.
My Dr. told me that if I wasn't sure to take off my underwear and walk around in a pair of pajama pants. If you feel a drip down your leg, it's your water. Discharge won't drip like that.
So, that's what I did and I felt a drip and so we went to the hospital. I didn't leak at all on the way to the hospital, nor did I leak while they did a glove test to see if I was leaking.
It wasn't until the speculum test that they confirmed my water had broken - three hours after the first trickle. Later on after jump starting my labor on pitocin, they had to re-break it at the bottom of the sack.
I think if you are 39 weeks today, then tomorrow you're 39 weeks 1 day & technically in your 40th week. Maybe that's the discrepancy?
Anyway, my water did not break, but I did have a case where I had just went to the bathroom to pee & then after I wiped, "water" came out all on it's own - I had no sensation or control of it & I thought it was my water breaking. I called the doctor & she told me to lay down for an hour on my side & then get up. If more liquid came out, then it is most likely my water. But, if nothing else came out then it was probably that the baby pressed my bladder & made me pee. It was pee
And the same thing happened when I did go into labor for real. I thought my water broke for real in bed b/c I had a huge uncontrollable gush - like sheet soaking. I was admitted b/c I was 5 cm dilated & contracting every 5 min, but my water never broke! That crazy baby of mine made me piss myself again!
Your OB can do a test to see if your water broke, so definitely call!
GL I can't believe you are so close!!
My water broke on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. It was a lot of fluid though. It kept leaking too but that doesn't mean that yours isn't amniotic fluid.
Good Luck!!!
When my water broke it was a big gush of fluid. I got myself cleaned up, put on a pad, and went to the hospital. By the time the nurse looked at me she said that there was no amniotic fluid and my water didn't break. About 2 hours later I felt the same feel and got a 2nd gush that was amniotic fluid for sure. The nurse said what probably happened was that I had a rupture high in bag of waters and once the water got below a certain point it stopped leaking out.
I know that's no help. But GL!

thanks for all the quick feedback ladies!
bosha...totally would make sense about the discrepancy....but they actually each gave me different due dates (4/28, 5/4). one doc was before i moved to CA, the other was here. i gave them each the same ovulation date...so who knows!
anyway...according to all of your experiences, its still up in the air
all i had on was sweat pants...no undies, and it definitely trickled.
i did go back down on my side for a while and when i got back up, nothing.
i actually have an appointment in a couple of hours, so hopefully they can test there. i REALLY dont want to have to go to triage with O sitting there getting impatient! not my idea of a fun afternoon!
also, thanks for the good wishes! i will definitely keep you updated and post pictures when i can.
Mine was more of a slow leak. I walked around pantsless for a while, and I was still slightly wet, so I went in. As I walked into the hospital, I could start to feel it POURING out!
Edit: I forgot to say: Good luck and update us ASAP! You are so close!
I felt a tiny little gush and wasn't sure what it was. About an hour later, there was a BIG gush, my jeans were soaked and there was no mistaking it.
Good luck! You're almost there!

This. I've heard though that if you have a leak, it can stop when you stand up since the baby's head is pretty much plugging the hole. If you lay down for a while, then stand back up, does it happen again? Could just be pee. Who knows!
Either way, good luck! :-D

I sprung a leak at 39 weeks 5 days. So not that early.
I was told to lay down for 1/2 hour and get up and if when I got up I felt a trickle it was more then likely my water leaking.
So we called the OB and she said to go to Labor and Delivery. When we got in and set up, the OB came in to check and in one breath told us that this is usually a false alarm but in the next breath said but in your case.... its a leak.
So I was induced from there.
I have no new advice - my OB broke my bag deep in labor in an attempt to get me to dilated past 9cm.
But I can't believe you're so close to the end! And a new squishy baby will be here soon!
