True story. She is smart. Has a master's degree. Has a job in corp america/in germany right now working on a big project.... Doesn't eat oranges because she doesn't get how they peel....

  • My super smart mom (she really is) doesn't believe you can grow a fruit bearing tree from a seed.  She thinks they must be grafted in order to bear fruit and if you grow from a seed they'll be sterile/ornamental.  Yeah...

    wow.

When I worked in retail I had a customer who didn't know how to tie a bow on her dress sash. Seriously sat there for 15 minutes teaching her how to tie a bow. Turns out she is the mayors wife. Of a large city, large well known city. I really hope he makes smarter choices in politics than he does in wives.

That was a little mean, but it was meant for emphasis.

  • My super smart sister (true story, girl's getting her Master's...) doesn't know how to make hardboiled eggs.

ETA: Chaps, i got ADD and didn't even read that your friend has a Master's... and then i literally worded mine almost like yours, lol. But, real talk, must be something about these people being book smart, but not street smart.. ;)

  • My super smart friend didn't know that cars need oil changes.
  • My super smart self didn't realize that "leggo my eggo" meant "let go of my eggo" till about 3 years ago.

I consider myself a decently smart person...have 2 masters degree, teach college, and am generally NOT clueless. This one just went right over my head though. LOL

My super smart ex-neighbor (med student) once tried to help me when I got locked out of my apt by trying all her old keys on my door. I was like, I think they make keys for the sole purpose that they only work on one lock, I might be wrong tho. Let's try it. Sure enough, they did not work.

I have issues with oranges too though. I know how to peel them, I just hate it.

not even close to the same thing. She loves oranges. Wants to eat them but doesn't because she doesn't know how. I agree that they CAN be a pain to peel, especially if you don't have a knife etc... But watching her watch me peel an orange was like watching a young child "getting a quater from behind their ear"

  • My super smart bff in my master's program (true story, we are BOTH getting our Master's degree, but in the Humanities, so probably not as smart) can't figure out how to work the school e-mail. For two years she could open the inbox, but not the messages. You have to click the subject....

LOL. I just thought the commercials were dumb. I thought it was a cute little saying that rhymed and that was the end of it. DH was the one who broke it down for me. Stick out tongue

  • My super smart co-worker (PhD in Astronutical Engineering, literally a Rocket Scientist) does not know how to cook scrambled eggs. He has also been known to stand at a door pushing it for 3-5 minutes before he realizes that he has to pull the door open.

Lol. I hope she learns. What a sad reason to not be able to eat one of your favorite foods. It's like if I didn't know how to open a box of cereal, that would be depressing

    True that!

lol, although hubs has put me on cereal probation because the past 2 or 3 times I accidentally rip the bag too much and it makes a mess/is a pain for future pouring... :( but at least I know how to get in it! ;)

  • My super smart friend Megan said to me when I was shopping for a car

    "It only get's 24 MPG?"

"I cannot believe you can only go 24 miles before you have to fill up your car again"

She graduates next week with her Masters in Environmental Studies

I also have a super smart friend tell me once that her uncle was diagnosed with

"Psoriasis of the liver" BAWAHAHAHA That one still makes my day :)

But you know me not the smartest person around, so it makes since my friends would say sh!t like this. Wink

  • My super smart coworker called me at home today because she didn't know how to fill out a deposit slip. I work in accounts receivables & was off with a sick ds today, so she was backing me up. Okay, she's not super smart. She actually thought the sun & moon were the same thing & didn't believe us when we told her no, so she asked our boss.

Nobody told me this when I started driving. When I was 17 my dad used my car. When he got home he askef when the last time I changed the oil was & I told him I thought he would take care of that. Yeah, I totally drove my car for a year & a half without an oil change.

This totally reminded me that an old coworker of mine once taught me to peel an orange so it comes out in one piece, like a shell. I completely forgot about that cool party trick cuz I don't really like the oranges so much....
