Looking for your experiences - Frozen Embryos

I tried searching past posts and couldnt really what I was looking for...

So obviously everyone is different- but heres how our IVF cycle has gone.

ER - 15 eggs, 14 matured, 13 fertilized

ET - 1 grade A embryo was transfered 3dpo, so 12 remained.

9 remaining arrested development and were discarded, so they were able to freeze 3.

I guess I am just having severe jitters now about our first beta tomorrow since only 3 made it past day 3... Thoughts experiences? Anything to help me understand?.....

I will be posting on the PAIF as well to get there opinion...

I'm not totally exactly sure what you're asking. But I don't mean that snarkily.

Regarding frozen embryos - most women don't have eggs to freeze, so on that account, consider yourself very lucky!

As for your chances of being PG right now, I don't think its determinable from how long your other eggs lasted or didn't. Most docs will transfer the best embies of the bunch, so you should feel good about that. You could POAS to find out or wait until tomorrow.

No no - I dont take it snarky- considering the number of looks and 1 reply others may be wondering the same thing! I am not really asking a question - just looking for others experiences; regarding number of embryos they had to freeze, opinions on 9 arresting development out of 12. Whats normal and whats not normal i guess.. Not looking for sugary answers, just real experiences of what others have had.

You replied with what I was looking for.

plus i think i am at the end of my rope being patient with this 2ww... Cant bring my self to POAS... false positive or false negatives scare me!

I had 5 fertilize and all of them make it to transfer day (5). We put the best 2 in and let the others go for another day they were slower growers and arrested before they made it to freeze.

So, I have the same concerns as you, knowing how quickly ours arrested after the transfer. But I know it's common for that to happen, especially since they've selected out the best at the time so I am happy with the ones we put in and struggling with the 2ww like you.

I had 23R, 20M, 17F

13 made it to day 3
8 made it to day 5
2 transferred
2 frozen

I had 4 arrest between fert and day 3, another 5 between days 3 and 5.

Another 4 either didn't make it to freeze or were not high enough quality to freeze.

I'm 38 years old with really good levels for my age. Not saying that to brag, but just to put it into perspective. Before I started IVF, I thought everyone had tons make it to freeze. I soon learned it was more likely to have none to freeze. I feel incredibly lucky to have 2.

It really does and this is exactly what i needed- just to understand how many "usually" survive to freeze- i just felt like going from 12 to 3 was a HUGE loss... seems to be the norm for some people. So thank you all for sharing so far!

I did one round of IVF:

36 retrieved, 34 mature, 26 fertilized normally by ICSI (we have multiple MFI issues), 11 made it to day 5/6 freeze. I couldn't do a fresh transfer because my E2 was sky-high at retrieval and my RE wanted to treat me for OHSS and do a frozen transfer later. We transferred a 3BB and a 4AA two months after the stim cycle and got our twins.

I'm sure the best embie was picked for fresh transfer, so I would be (cautiously) optimistic about the one you transferred and your frozen embie. Good luck!!!

Wow and I thought I was uncomfortable from the number I had!!

Yes It helps that the DR was so positive when he transferred them... he said it was a super star one and he was confident it would take... FX still ..:)

I had 18 R, 15 mature, 13 Fertilized.

None were transferred because I was too sick, and 6 made it to freeze.

I have a friend from high school, who just had her ER. She had 40, yes 40, retrieved, 35 were mature, 29 fertilized, 22 made it to 3day, and today is 5day. I don't think there is an exact science to this, it depends on the quality of eggs and sperm. Our RE did ICSI, and I sometimes wonder had we let them fertilize naturally would we have had more to freeze? But there is nothing that I can do about it now and wondering isn't going to accomplish anything, so I have to be grateful for the 6 frosties I have waiting for me!
