9 month growth spurt?

Is there a 9 month growth spurt?  Is anyone else's LO going through a growth spurt?

DS won't stop eating!  He's nursing the same, but has really increased his solid food intake!  He can't get enough and he screams that he wants more!

He's also gained 12 ounces in this past week...he was weighed last week and we weighed him again this week on our baby scale (we got it back when he dropped percentiles and we were weighing a lot with his feedings to see how much he was taking in)...and I couldn't believe how much he gained in this past week!

He's been taking longer naps and he woke up at 1:30 last night (it's been a very long time since he's woken up at night to eat, yes, I know I'm very lucky) and wanted to nurse and then went back to sleep.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Re: 9 month growth spurt?

  • Idk, I just feel like it's all one big non-stop growth spurt from birth until who-knows-when.

We've been in the same boat for a couple days, I just go with it.. Some times she goes through weeks of being finicky and only eating/napping little bits, then we have these days where she's just a perpetual eating/sleeping little piggy.

  • Yes there is, Kellan has STTN since he was a month old, and after he turned 9 months he was up sometimes 2x a night for a bottle, he was eating like crazy too.   He is back to normal now, so stay strong and it will pass soon!

  • YES my LO was waking at night to eat, and NOT going back down like she usually does after MOTN feedings.  Like, staying awake for over 2 hours, just crying.  We would try everything short of throwing her in the tub (baths calm her down), and then I'd feed her again and she was like, Yesssssss.  I was amazed that she was still hungry, but I guess she was?

  • I was just reading about this yesterday as DS decided to nurse every 2 hours all day long yesterday, which he hasn't done since he was a newborn.  To a PP, not all growth spurts are physical, a lot of the typical growth spurt signs are actually linked to an intellectual/developmental gain as well.  I hope DS's is due to putting on some pounds, but realistically I think its more related to starting to pull up onto things.
