XP: Second trimester - changes to workout routine?

Hi Ladies,

For those of you in your second trimester, I am wondering have you changed anything in your work out that you felt ok doing in the first trimester other than the obvious no laying on your back for too long?

  • nothing major.... like you said no laying on my back and I felt kinda ick after doing burpees, so I stopped doing those at crossfit.  I'm still running, although I just naturally have gotten slower and I'm still going to crossfit, I've just lightened up the weight a bit.

  • I'm at 20 weeks and have scaled back my running now, mostly because of shortness of breath and concerns about my heart rate.  I used to do 10 mile runs pretty regularly and ran a marathon in October, so my body is used to that sort of workout. Now I am doing 6 miles about 4 times a week, alternating running and walking each mile.  I could probably do more than that but don't want my heart rate to raise too much, and I figure 6 miles is a good workout.  My doctor told me just not to push myself too hard and that as a regular runner, I'd probably know what that means.  She's right. Oh, and now when I weight train, I use 5 lb lighter weights when I do upper body work.
  • I am 17w. I was powerlifting before getting pregnant so in the first trimester I had cut back about 30% on weights. I am still lifting decently heavy but I can't do more than 25 to 30 minutes of weights. Before I could go almost an hour heavy lifting. I still do planks and russian twists for abs. I never have done crunches and situps, so I still don't do them now. I need about 3 days to recover from a weight session when before I could go everyother day and sometimes daily if my routine was  a split. I am just more tired now.
