crib question

I need some help...Does this look right?

When the mattress is centered there is about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between the mattress and the crib rails. The pictures below show the space (about a 1/2 inch). This is with the back side of the mattress pressed tightly against the crib. Is this an unsafe amount of space?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Mine is a snug fit, I can barely fit my hand between the slats and the mattress.   I think the standard is that you should only be able to fit two fingers, side-by-side, between the mattress and the slats.

Mine is really snug too. If you're able to easily slide your fingers in the gap, I would think it wasn't a correct fitting mattress for your crib. I don't think its necessarily unsafe but If you can easily exchange the mattress for one that would fit better, I would.

Yup... the mattress is snug enough.
