Picking things up is overrated!

I swear I have been dropping everything lately!  I have now come to the point where it is downright painful to bend over and pick things up, no matter how I try to do it!  Between my huge belly and my back pain, these days if I cannot pick something up with my toes or my DH is not around to get it for me, then as far as I'm concerned...it can just stay there!  Anyone else feeling this way?

  • I'm thankful to have a dog that will gladly pick up dropped food items

  • I am! And what sucks is that I work in a library and have to bend over constantly. I'd say probably 8 times out of 10 in the past 2 weeks, every book I've been asked for is on the bottom shelf! And we have a big book drop bin where people can throw their items in from outside that we constantly have to check and it is sooo hard to bend over and pick the stuff out of it!

  • I agree.  Good thing my 2 year old likes to pick things up and put them in the trash.  Embarrassed
  • I totally prioritize things like "Do I really need to pick that up?" if not I'll leave it or ask DH for help. It's amazing what I've been able to pick up with my toes though Smile
  • So glad my 18 month old can help with picking up, and my almost 8 year old is great at helping.

  • I'll totally leave something on the floor. My dog is pretty good at retrieving things too.

I was at Walmart buying some of those little Cesar dog food packs, and every single one that I tried to grab hit the floor. I had to pick up like 10 packs... I was so frustrated. The worst part was the lady who just watched me drop them and struggle to retrieve them, and didn't even say anything,

This. I've been dropping rubberbands at work like crazy. They just stay on the floor..

    Change everything. Love & Forgive.

  • I work at Starbucks, and at the end of my shift there is always a pile where I was standing of milk caps, drink stirrers, receipts, I've completly stopped picking stuff up until the end if the day when I get a broom.

Yup. Luckily my daughter is usually around me and she's at that stage where she loves to "help" with everything :). So she's more than happy to help me pick things up.

  • The other night I dropped an onion ring & bent over to pick it up. DH was like, "I'm sorry - that looked like work!" And I'm just thinking, "You have NO IDEA!!" Lol!
  • I'm a cashier and I am CONSTANTLY dropping everything...and by everything I mean money. Coins, bills, cards, receipts, etc. And of COURSE those are all things that are hard to pick up off the floor as it is :(

  • ::raises hand::

Add tying shoes to the overrated list.

  • Oddly enough over the holidays I jokingly told family members that once I get big enough I know I won't be able to bend over and pick stuff up. Or get up on ladders to get high things off of shelves, etc. Someone suggested one of those grabber things. It was all in jest. But, my mom trying to be funny bought me one. And I swear that things gets more use now than any other item in my house!

  • LOL. I complain everytime I have to bend over for something. SO then says.... well your squishing the baby and your suppose to bend at the knees not in half.

Me: Well if I bend down at the knees then I can't get back up.

    SO: Stop bending over then.

Me: How else to I get food out or put groceries away. lol.
