T&P for Alabama today

One year ago today the state of Alabama went through complete devastation. Tornado after tornado ripped through our state, and especially in the north of the state where I am from. I am sure many of you saw it on the news as it gained national attention but unless you live it everyday you go on with your life and forget about it. My hometown was one of he hardest hit areas and my parents are extremely lucky to still have their home. They went without power for over two weeks but could not leave their house because the looting was so bad. A town 30 minutes from where I live now was completely leveled. Pretty much the whole town was gone. A girl I went to high school with was killed and her dad found her days later!! I could tell you story after story but my point is there are many people in my state that still live with this tragedy everyday!! So many lives were lost and so many lost everything they had. Thousands are still living in FEMA trailers because there are just too many houses to rebuild. I just wanted to ask that if you pray please pray for Alabama today. It was the scariest day of my life and I was a lucky one. Many people in my state are hurting today and I know every extra prayer will help!! Thanks!!

Thoughts and prayers heading your way from New Orleans! I drove through Alabama last summer on my way from New Orleans to Baltimore, and I saw the terrible devastation. I can't even begin to imagine what that must have been like. I'm glad your family was lucky and I hope those who were not as fortunate have been able to pick up the pieces.

I'm from Tuscaloosa so I appreciate you posting this! We've come a long way in a year, but there is still so much farther to come. There are hundreds of families suffering the one year anniversary of losing their loved ones today and they will definitely be in my prayers!

I did not recall the tornadoes in Alabama, but I think that is because MA was hit by tornadoes a year ago as well. This is extremely rare in MA. I remember waiting it out at work waiting for a break to get home. Today's news showed the progress they have made rebuilding. Most of the severe damage was about a hour west of me. The good thing about New England is that most houses do have basements here.

I will definitely say a prayer. I am sure there isn't enough room for all the tragedy you have seen first hand. May God continue to provide for those that need it both mentally and physically.

My cousin goes to school at Alabama. We couldn't get in touch with her for a long time afterward. It was so scary, wondering if she was okay. She was fine, but the place she was living was destroyed. Her cat was lost for two days, but they found her. She was shaken up, but okay. They call her Miracle Cat.

Absolutely prayers going up for the entire area. I didn't go up there (she came down here for awhile until they could find her a new place to live.) but she showed us pictures and I saw some really devastating video. So sad.

T&P to Alabama today. The anniversary for Joplin is coming up too. It is so hard to think about all the devastation that occurred last year. Tornadoes are scary no matter what, but after seeing first hand what an EF5 tornado can do, I think a warning will have me totally freaked out. Like Alabama, Joplin is still rebuilding, but it's going to take a long time. The last I heard, the high school is still holding classes at the mall! Again, my T&P are with all those in Alabama who were affected by the tornado.
