crib question

I need some help...Does this look right?

When the mattress is centered there is about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between the mattress and the crib rails.  The pictures below show the space (about a 1/2 inch).  This is with the back side of the mattress pressed tightly against the crib.  Is this an unsafe amount of space?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • If you're worried, you could put a bulky mattress pad (or few) in to make it a little thicker. We haven't gotten our mattress in yet, so I hope we don't have any gaps.

  • It looks good to me :) I don't think your LO is going to fall into that gap or get body parts stuck. If you're worried about it you can add 2 mattress pads instead of one under the sheet and that should take up more space but I don't think you'll need to.

  • Yep, looks normal to me :)

  • This is how our "naked" mattress looks in our crib too. But once I got the mattress pad on and the sheet, nearly all of the extra gap was taken up so I wouldn't worry. I don't even think a chubby little elbow will wiggle its way down into that tiny gap. :)
