It really doesn't matter. You are going to strip down to nothing and put on a gown.
FWIW, I wore jeans, a t-shirt and flip-flops to my DD's birth.
BFP May 2017.
BFP July 2014. Low Progesterone. DS born by repeat c-section for breech presentation. BFP November 2011 TWINS!!!. Lost a twin at 7 weeks. DS born VBAC. BFP July 2009. DD born via c/section for breech presentation. BFP Jan. 2009. Missed miscarriage at 9 weeks.D&C March 2010 December 2009 - Diagnosed with bicornuate uterus.
I'm pretty sure I had jeans on, then brought some new yoga pants to wear home.
An important thing to note for your partners: make sure THEY are not wearing flip flops. If you end up getting a C section, they will likely require closed toe shoes in surgery. It wasn't an issue for us because my husband only wears his flip flops at the pool or to get the newspaper, but it is apparently common enough for it to be brought up at a hospital tour.

Good to know!! My DH always wears flip flops. Even in ten inches of snow. Thanks!!
Pretty much that, lol. If I happen to be home or on the weekend rather than from work, then I'd expect to be wearing comfortable pants and a maternity tank or something similar.
But since they ask you to wear the hospital gown when you arrive, it doesn't much matter, imo. At least the gowns at my hospital are surprisingly comfortable - they are really soft and thick and unsnap so I don't feel like I'm being choked, which makes me ok with wearing them.

I'm having a RCS and will only be in what I'm wearing for an hour or two that day. Whatever I wear there is what I'll wear home so it has to work for a c-section recovery. I'll pick something with a full belly panel instead of underbelly. The fluids you get with a c-section cause a lot of swelling so I'll make sure I wear crocs. After my other two they were the only shoes that fit for a week or so.

Yoga pants (black ones) are really nice. I wore the hospital gown and yoga pants while I was in the hospital.
After my first birth and tearing the thought of wearing jeans would put me in a panic. After my son was born I wore maternity jean capris home. There was quite a difference between the two births.

This is not always true. When I had DS#1 I was given a phone and allowed to walk throughout the entire hospital while in labor. I wore a zip up track suit and tennis shoes. I was able to go down to the cafe and have breakfast then I went shopping in the gift shop where my water actually broke! I called them on my phone and they came to pick me up in a wheel chair. I was glad to have something comfortable and not revealing to walk around in instead of a hospital gown.

Yoga pants and a t shirt. pretty much what I've been wearing the last 6 months.

This. I had to be induced with DS so I just wore something comfy (I think I wore leggings & a tunic shirt).
This time, I'll either show up in whatever I'm wearing if/when labor starts or I'll wear something similar to last time if we have another induction.
I also packed a maxi dress for the way home. I didn't want pants coming anywhere near my lady-bits after giving birth! It was sore & swollen.
A sundress and flip flops- basically my uniform for the summer. And easy to take on and off. This will also be what I wear home.
