TTC After a Loss

XP: Popped my RE cherry

We had our first visit with the RE this afternoon, and I think it went well.  She was really nice.  :)

Our plan:

Next cycle, CD3 BW, repeat SA for DH, and SHG for me (she called it SIS).  Then, assuming there are no concerns with the test results, we will do Femara + IUI the following cycle.  So, we're looking at June.

The RE wanted to do the SHG over the HSG, because it's less painful/invasive, and she's assuming my tubes are clear, since I've been KU twice.  I did ask if she'd be able to see the tubes at all, and she said yes, just not as in-depth as the HSG.

Honestly, for me, not much has changed, except I know what the plan is for sure now.  I figured it would either be meds and/or IUI.  So, I'm still excited and nervous to be moving forward.

Ok, I kind of feel like we're climbing up that very first hill of a roller coaster, with no idea how long or bumpy the ride will be....  So, that's excited and nervous, like I just said. ;)

I am glad you have a plan. It was so helpful to know what was going to happen, instead of the unknown. I had an SHG for the same reason, the OB didn't think it was necessary. (plus my insurance wouldn't cover it.) GL with all of your testing.

  • It's a lot to take in, but I'm so glad you have a plan in place!

By the way, my puppy's favorite toy is still that crazy hairy one you sent us! :)
It was a rough road, but Arlo Daniel was born April 1, 2013—and our second rainbow is due October 12, 2014.
  • So glad that you've got a plan moving forward! Good luck as you head toward June, and hopefully a take-home baby!

We lost our first (EDD 07/23/12) after finding out at 12 weeks there was no longer a heartbeat. Our rainbow was born 05/22/13 and was worth all we went through.

  • Glad you have a plan! I had both done and for me the hsg was easy and the shg was worse. It wasn't exactly painful but I just felt alot of pressure and crampy with all the water they put in there.  And then I was leaking water all day.   Overall though not terrible so don't be worried.  Oh and I wore my lucky socks for my hsg :).  Good luck!

  • Sounds like a great plan!  Fx all your testing comes back ok.  As for the SHG, as far as I know, it doesn't really show your tubes at all.  Since you have been KU 2x, recently, your tubes are probably fine.  If you have a couple failed medicated cycles though, I would request having one done, for peace of mind.
