Question for runners

Just curious if any other runners are experiencing calf pain while running?  The previous five or six times I have ran both calves will start to hurt about halfway into my run. I don't remember feeling like I pulled anything during any of the runs, so I was wondering if it was pregnancy related. They just feel real crampy and tight. I am really frustrated because I have a half marathon in nine days.

Re: Question for runners

  • I haven't had a problem with sore calves but my shin splints have been acting up more than usual. Are you stretching well? Getting enough calcium?

I'm not sure if this is related, but with my first pregnancy I got a lot of charley horses (I had never had one before).  It was actually not related to my running at all, it would happen when I was lying in bed in the middle of the night.  I tried to drink a ton of water and eat bananas...  HTH!

  • I haven't had cramps but I have majorly slacked. Ran twice last weekend and nothing since then. 10k Sunday morning, hope I can at least finish.

  • I've cut back on running a bit. I wasn't an avid runner..I probably put in 5-7 miles a week.

I've noticed if I run..even a small amount like a mile..I've had the worst charley horses as well! It's something I never experienced before with running..even if I took a few weeks off!

  • I've also been slacking majorly.  I have realized though that my calves are sorer lately.  I'm thinking that I'm either not hydrated enough or I'm out of shape lol

I really need to drink more water. The only food I can't eat right now is bananas. They make me want to throw up. Maybe those are both my problems. Thanks everyone!
