Certain Death

I have been marveling recently at how many articles and warnings I come across about pregnancy and parenting.  What is going on!?

Let's start a list of scary things that mean certain death for us, or unborn  child, or our newly born children.

This is all in jest of course.  Humans, after all have been propagating the species for quite a while now....

Co-sleeping - certain death

Cold cuts - certain death

Gardening - certain death

Alcohol - certain death

Sleeping on your back - certain death

    DH's aunt (70) couldn't understand why I am drinking a bit of caffeine, yet she also couldn't understand why I'd want a "fancy" car seat or why we'd be crazy enough to have the baby rear facing for 2-3+ years, since "back then" they just put the baby in the back seat and were done with it, or had a car seat that just hooked over the front seat.

    Well...

    I'll be gardening Mother's Day weekend...with gloves. 

    Oh, and I sleep on my back because I get cramps in my sides if I sleep on my sides. 

    Certain death...........

    <judge me.

     

    I had turkey sandwich for lunch that I drank a coke with and I took a bubble bath after dinner.  Also, I bed shared with DS, who must be a zombie since he is still walking around here and talking, and I'll bed share with this one as well.

    a small cup of coffee?  CERTAIN DEATH!

    the laying on the back one always makes my eyes roll.

     i was telling my mom that you weren't supposed to sleep on your back.  she (who had 4 kids) asked me, "then how in the heck are you supposed to sleep?!"

    in this day and age, mom, only on your left side.  not your right.  your left....or CERTAIN DEATH!

    I loved your responses.  Made me laugh.  Thanks for humoring me on all of the things we're supposed to be afraid of.  It restores my faith in pregnant women everywhere.
