Babies Vocab....

So since we are slow, just thought I'd see what everyone's little ones are saying these days. A is a jabber box and talks up a storm.

A few of her favorite words are Mama, Daddy, she also like saying Hi Mama, Hi Daddy, (she finds it funny to say Hi Daddy when I pick her up at daycare)  Bye Bye (when I leave daycare) Papa, Coop (our dog is Cooper) Puppy and her most recent is Stinky (thanks to daddy saying she had a stinky diaper this weekend)

What are you jabber boxes up to?

Re: Babies Vocab....

  • C still just babbles.  Dada, baba, vava, mmmmmmmmmm.  Still no mama.

She really doesn't say words at all and I don't think she's ever said any of them with purpose.  As in everything is dada.

  • DD doesn't say any words with a purpose yet.  :( Sometimes it seems like she says mamama in reference to me, but I think it's just wishful thinking.
  • Ev says hi, mama, dada, and dog consistently. He's also learned to say "ew" and "moo" recently, although he doesn't say those in context yet. He's tried to say one of our dog's names (Linus) a few times, but it's a hard word for him so he doesn't say it often.

  • He'll say "dada" and point or run to DH, but he also babbles dada all the time.  He will say byebye when he waves sometimes.  That one I'm sure about. :)  I'm pushing mama hardcore, but I guess it'll come when he's ready.  My mom is convinced he says "this".  I've heard it, but I'm not sure it's in any kind of context.

  • Jyles mostly babbles with no real meaning, although the other day my H was bathing him and he stood up in the tub and said 'all done.' my H freaked out and said 'omg that's his first word for sure.' I didn't want to tell him he'd been saying it for over a week. I still think it was just a coincidence that he used it in the right context.

  • Violet says:

Mama, Dada, dog, bird, ball, an odd form of Avery (DD1's name) and I swear "I did it" all in one word every time she does something.

  • just babbling. mama, dada, baba, depending on the day, but never directed at us.

  • Audrey's favorite word is Hi!  She says it all the time, and she likes when you say it back.  We could have a "Hi" conversation forever I think. lol

Her worst word was mama, then dada.  She can say "Hi Dad."  I know she says it because she says it right to him.  Plus, I always tell her to say "Hi Dada" when we see him or he comes in.

  • Just babbles (dada, mama, lala, baba, etc).  There have been a few times when she said "Mama" and it seemed like she was directing it at me, but then she'll also say mamama randomly, so I have no idea.  She also says "eee" while pointing at the cats- I think she wants to say "kitty" but doesn't know how to say the "kit" part yet.

Our Audrey's are alike! Her favorite conversaition to have is saying Hi Daddy to Dad and then he says Hi Audrey back, they can do this for a LONG time. She thinks it is hilarious. Her tiny voice gets a little higher each time!

  • The only real words he's saying is mama and dada.  And, I know for a fact he actually means dada!  The other night DH got a phone call while I was trying to wind Ty down, so he left the room.  Ty looked at me, looked all around the room, and finally back to me and said "dada?" with a little pout.  CUTEST. THING. EVER!!!

He's trying to say kitty, it's just not working yet.  He's said bat 1-2 times, but that's all so I'm not counting it really yet.

He LOVES to just sing and sing and sing at the top of his lungs!  He'll intermix his la's, da's, ma's and ba's...

  • Audra says:

hi, All done, tells our dog henry to "come",  and she can say car

  • I think DD is starting to say words on purpose, like Mama when she's calling for me. She's starting mimicking a few easy words. The word uh-oh goes around our house a lot and she's started saying it after we do.
    This is my AE.

  • Liam is still full of mostly babbles, but mama, dada, and doh-doh (for the dog) are the ones he says with actual intentions toward the right person.  He also says, "geh" a lot, and it seems like he's trying to tell me something, but I can never figure out what!

  • D's vocab boomed the last two weeks... He knows what Dog means... He looked at my husband who was wearing a stupid wolf hat that he got in NYC... and said with a straight face 'Dog' so we both think his first word is dog.

He says Mama, Dada, Duck, Dog, and Car. We are working on Rock and Cat...

He signs Milk, More, and Dada/Mama (sometimes he get them mixed up). We are working on Thank you.

    He often babbles a lot.

We point to something and its "da" from DD. Everything is "da". However, "dog" sounds a bit different so I'm telling myself she knows "dog" :-P She started saying "this" to everything too.  Points to something, says "isss". Still no mmmmmm or mama :-(

Don't stress about it yet! It is so early for talking - as long as she is babbling random sounds I think it is normal.

  • Oh wow, well DS is surely not saying much.  He says Dada, but has replaced that lately with what sounds like baba or mama depends on the day I guess.  I don't think he is saying anything with intent.  He also says "hi" but it sounds more like a noise rather than the word.

  • Ds just babbles mostly. I think he's said dada a few times but not directed at dh necessarily. And I think I've heard mama a few times too but not consistently or directed at me.
