TTC After a Loss

Period off after MC

I had a MC on February 10th, 3 days before my birthday :-( I was almost 7 weeks pregnant. I finally got AF on March 21st, 39 days later. I was thrilled because my husband and I could start trying again, which is what we did this month! I was on BC for 10 years and had AF every 4 weeks. Once I stopped BC my AF was 35 days.  Tuesday, 4/23 would have been 35 days since my last AF.  I took a test on Monday and got a BFN. Still no AF today (Thursday, 4/26), so I took another test this morning and still a BFN. I've had mild period cramps and my boobs have been sore this week. Not sure what to think?!?! Has anyone had a MC and have their period off track for a while? Thanks for any advice!! :-)

Re: Period off after MC

  • Yes, after a m/c your body can take some time to get back on track.  Everyone's body is different, but AF can be wonky for a while.  I would keep taking a test every few days until AF shows up.  GL!

I am so sorry for your loss.

I think most women on this board will tell you that their cycles were off post-mc. It is definitley common. It's very possible that you O'd later, therefore giving you a longer cycle than you're used to. Keep testing, and if AF arrives and this happens to NOT be your BFP cycle then I highly suggest charting. It can take away some of the suspense and confusion. Good luck!

  • Thanks for the advice! I appreciat it! Smile
  • So sorry for your loss.

In answer to your question. Yes my cycles have been "off" since my m/c. My first period was 4 weeks after my d&c, then I got it again only 2 weeks later, then again 30 days later, then my most recent was 34 days. Before my m/c I was very regular, down to the time of day, every 30 days. So while I'm not totally all over the place now, it's still off.

  • Mine have been out of wack. Like you, I was on BC for over 5 years. After my m/c my cycles became so irregular. I was usually a 28 day-er...now sometimes I'm 30...sometimes of 25...it's getting old.

  • I'm glad you asked this question. I am feeling the same way. I was on BC for almost ten years. My cycles weren't regular before I got my BFP so I am sure that is the issue. Post D& C it took 44 days for AF to show up... So I am waiting and no so patiently at that.. Thinking about you!
