so I had my consult today after the loss and the dr said it was prob due to chromosomal abnormalites, so she said I should take 1 baby asprin and she is having me take folicgard sp?
what does the baby asprin do?
so they think its either the chromosomal abnormality or there is somethign else like a immune disorder? I guess I do another round and if it doesnt work I have to do some work up on that...
Re: chromosomal abnormalities, did anyone else miscarry bec of it?
Im sorry you are going through this.
I was told the same thing. I am also taking aspirin during this FET cycle because of my miscarriage. it thins out your blood apparently and there are some studies to suggest it helps....so it cant hurt.
I could be wrong but they say that chromosomal abnormalities are one of the leading causes of miscarriage for everyone but they are just random. about half of all embryos that form are not "normal" apparently...its a wonder anyone ever gets pregnant.
The baby aspirin is supposed to thin your blood and prevent blood clots which could lead to miscarriages.
Miscarriages due to chromosomal abnormalities are common unfortunately as we get older (older eggs can have a higher chance of having a chromosome abnormality). They can be completely random (i.e the chances of another one is low) or in someone with poor egg quality, the chances may be higher. I read on the internet somewhere that as we get over 35, one out of every 2 eggs may have chromosome issues (take that with a grain of salt, I don't remember the source).
My first natural pregnancy last year was lost due to Trisomy 13. My OB told me it was completely random. However, now I'm just convinced I make really crappy eggs.

You may be right, I may be wrong, I'm not a doctor, LOL. But I just know it had something to do with reducing the chances of clotting.

My IVF ended with a D&C and they were able to do some testing. Test showing an extra chromosome or chromosomal abnormality on number 8, I think. RE said it shouldn't affect our ability to be successful on the next cycle and it's nothing that could've been prevented. We asked if we should do any other testing or even PGD but he said he didn't recommend it for us.
Good luck, and I'm so sorry you're going through this. IF really sucks. ((hugs))
Thanks Ladies!
