Cloth Diapering

DCP is hoarding diapers!

DH and I have been going crazy trying to figure out why it feels like we never have enough daycare diapers.  We just did diaper laundry 3 days in a row so we'd have diapers to take in.  Finally, this morning I checked and DCP has diapers stashed in 3 different bins- she had 7 diapers hidden away and we just keep bringing in more.

Sad thing is, I was actually kind of excited about having an excuse to buy more.

Other than that, CDing at daycare is going really well.  DCP loves them and said everyone should use them.  It's taken her a little while to get used to the concept of a wetbag.  At first, she would only put the diapers in there but not the cloth wipes.  I finally convinced her and now she thinks she should throw EVERYTHING in there at the end of the day (spare clothes, blankets, bottle bag, etc..... yuck!)

She has had a couple blowouts, but I think she's getting the idea that the diapers need to be on tighter.

  • I'm glad CDing at day care is going well for you.. except for that wet bag issue! I wonder why she thinks it's ok to put the bottle bag in with dirty diapers?! Weird. My DCP will sometimes put LO's dirty clothes in there, but I don't mind.

I've had to start keeping track of how many diapers I take vs. how many I come home with each day after I realized one was missing. I'm pretty sure they threw one away! I was really bummed, but I can't prove it.

  • At DD's daycare they put EVERYTHING in a little plastic bag first, then put it in the wet bag. They even double bag her poopy dipes. They put her bibs in a bag, her shoes, clothes, everything. There's almost no point to me bringing a wet bag for them because they do that. A couple of times I forgot to bring it and they put everything in a double bagged trashbag. It wastes a lot of bags but at least I don't have to wash her wetbag that often I guess.

Do they have cubbies? Tell her to put everything that hasn't touched LO's butt in the cubby until you get there to pick her up. Then when you pick her up take her stuff from the cubby yourself. At DD's daycare some of the parents just hand the teachers a bag and leave, and at the end of the day the teacher packs up the bag and then all the parents have to do is grab the bag and the kid and go. Maybe they think that this is what the wet bag is for? I bring a separate bag each day and unload it into DD's cubby myself, and at the end of the day I pack up her cubby again. I also never leave her diapers at daycare, I'm too paranoid of something happening to them.
