Did anyone have cramping after u/s?

I know we've established that spotting is normal after an u/s, but is cramping?  I had a transvaginal u/s on Tuesday, and I had some uncomfortable cramping that night.  The cramping has stopped, but now I'm just wondering if it was normal.

  • I've had a few vaginal u/s, and I've never experienced cramping.  That doesn't mean it's not common though.  I'd just call your OB to see what he/she says..although it's been 2 days.

Thanks for the advice!  Yeah, I know it's a little late.  It's just that the cramping didn't start until after my doctor's office was closed on Tuesday and then it had stopped when I woke up on Wednesday.  I honestly didn't even think about calling Wednesday because I'm swamped on campus that day.  Today, I've just had a little bit too much time on my hands, and I'm making myself paranoid.

     This eases my mind.  Thanks!

  • UPDATE:  Ok, so I called my OB, and she said spotting and/or cramping for 24-48 hours is normal after an u/s because it's an invasive procedure and the cervix is sensitive.  I thought I'd post this update in case someone else ends up being in a similar situation.

  • I too had a little cramping after my vag u/s. I also have a little cramping after sex too (I don't have it very often at all due to it and due to the nausea LOL). Anyways it seems pretty normal. I don't think the u/s hurt the baby in any way. Its just sound waves.
