VBAC

I have 7 days to decide.

I'm due tomorrow. I'm allowed to go to 41 weeks. If I don't start labor on my own, I have to figure out if my midwives will slowly induce me (slow pit - which 2 have said they will do) or schedule a repeat C (which is frustrating after having a c with my first, and successful spontaneous labor vbac with my 2nd). I am so completely stressed out about it all. I know 7 days is alot to hopefully go into labor on my own, but I just feel like that's not going to happen. My pregnancy was picture perfect, and nothing in my life ever goes perfectly like that. Last night I thought I was in labor, some brown mucous, then heavy cramping, TONS of back pain. I tried to sleep and eventually woke up feeling 100% fine. I could cry. I really want my vbac... but the thought of an induction scares me with the risks (some won't even do it) and so does the thought of a repeat c/s especially since I have a 6 and 4 year old. I just want to cry. And i'm even afraid of going all the way to 41 weeks, because after my vbac with my DS2, my midwife said my placenta was old. That was at 39 weeks... how would I know if something was wrong with it this time?? My biggest fear is something happening to my baby. I just want her OUT.

  • Don't lose hope and try to relax.  You are in the home stretch!!!   I bet you have your baby over the weekend.  Last night was probably just a warm up for the real deal.

Thanks. WIthout your nice posts I think I would go nuts! I have probably sounded so crazy over the past week with my posts. I'm going to try and just let it happen. Still having bloody "show" and cramps now that i'm awake. *deep breaths*

  • Bloody show and cramps are a good sign! Go do something fun and relaxing for yourself. Maybe it will help your body go into labor or at least take your mind off of it for a little bit. Good Luck!!!
  • I hope so. I have to take my oldest son to the doctor... not fun, but my neurotic germaphobe self keeping him from touching everything will keep me busy Wink It's an hour away too, so my mom is going just in case!

  • It sounds like things might be picking up - hang in there. I totally lost my mind at the end of both my pregnancies - including a total meltdown 24 hours before my VBAC (contractions started at 3 am the next day). It'll happen!

  • I'm in just about the same position except my OB won't do an induction at all.  I go back tomorrow for another check to see if I've made any progress.

I was actually up most of the night last night having contractions.  I haven't had any "show", but have lost a fair amount of MP, I think.  I would fall asleep for awhile and wake back up to time contractions, but then when I woke around 4, they were gone.  Talk about frustrating!

Will keep my fingers crossed that your body is in the early stages of labor and you have the baby sometime very soon!

Mine are crossed for you too! I'm not even sure my m/w will do an induction. 2 said they would. But reading up on it, i'm not sure what i'm comfortable with. I did get pit during my last vbac, but I was already in active labor, I just needed a little bump to keep going. That midwife literally saved my DS's life (cord wrapped 2x), so I trust her alot. I just don't know what's best, and there's so much conflicting info out there.

  • No easy decision.  But, I say go with your gut, regardless of whether it's for a VBAC or C-Section.  Trust your instincts.

In the meantime, is it nice where you are?  Get outside and go for a walk.  The fresh air & sunshine will lift your mood and the exercise will hopefully help bring on labor.  :)

Good Luck mama, and I hope to see your birth story soon. :)

It's sunny, but chilly. I coach teeballers, so i'm busy running around on the field. At 40 weeks pregnant, it makes for a few stares for sure! I'm keeping busy cleaning... trying not to stress because I heard that can ward off labor too. Just trying to relax and enjoy what is my last week being pregnant.
