My first name and middle name were those of my paternal great-grandmothers. My mom swears it is just a coincidence but my dad says I was named after them. Who knows.
My name is Christin and my dad picked my name and the spelling. My mom said he knew exactly what he wanted for a girl but she never knew why and I never got to ask. He died when I was 13. Always been curious though.
My mom named me after an antique plate my dads grandmother gave her. WTF, mom? It's Victoria Rose, which is pretty I guess but pretty old lady too. /facepalm.
My Mom wanted to name me Mandy like after the Barry Manilow song
My grandmother intervened and said I'll just call her Mindy. So my Mom named me Mindy. Both names are awful. My middle name is Marie which is also my grandmother's middle name. On a side note, my Dad wanted to name me Allie, which isn't after anyone, but out of Mindy and Mandy, I guess I would have rather been Allie. Oh well.

I like your name its very formal and elegant sounding. If I have a girl I want to name her Ashley Victoria.
Both my brother and I were named after my dad. My parents were team green with me... My dads name is stephen, I ended up being stephenie, and my brother is Stephen jr.
If I would have been a boy, my name would have been Brent Joseph (My dad's mn is Brent and my grandpa's name was Joseph). Instead, I'm Lauren Kristine after no one. My mom says she wishes she would have named me after my great-grandma and put Opal into my name somehow. I have thought about using Brent Joseph if this baby is a boy, but I don't really like how it sounds with our last name. We will definately be using Joseph somehow though if it is a boy.
My middle name is Jean, which is my mom's and grandma's first names. My DD has the same middle name, PLUS it's my MIL's first name and SIL's middle name.

If this baby is a girl, I want to use Jean as the middle name. It was my grandma's MN, it is also my MIL and SIL's MN. I may have to convince DH though.
My sister threw a fit about my Mom's first name choice so my mom let my sister (10yrs old at the time) pick some names. My first name is after a girl my sister thought was pretty at school. My middle name is just a name my mom liked. Although my mom later found out there are family members with my first and middle name though.
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
My name is based of the initialsof my maternal grandmother. Her name is Elizabeth Susanna Magdalena. ESM - My mom wanted an alternative and found Esme in a baby book. Here I am.

Sara- my great grandmother was Saveria ( Su- ver-ree- uh) but when she immigrated here her name was changed in Ellis Island to Sara. I am named after her. My grandmother calls me Sadavina ( Suh-duh-vee-nuh) which is Little Saveria essentially.
Ann- My other great grandmother was Anna.... and there is a ton of us with Ann as a middle name.

I was named after the two nurses that delivered me. My mom had told them that they were so nice to her throughout her whole pregnancy that if I was a girl I would get their names.
If I had been a boy I would have been Robert Allen after my dad(Robert). My mom says it was a coincidence but my great-aunt's name was Catherine and I'm Katherine. My mom always called my her Aunt K, so they didn't think of what her full name was and named me after her.
Yup, I was named after my grandfather Harry--my parents used the first letter, H, which is very common in the Jewish culture. My middle name is also after my other grandfather, William.
My middle name is Ruth which was both my grandmas' names. My mom chose my first name b/c she loved the song "They call the wind Mariah". I actually think the song is horrible though! But I like my name anyways.
My middle name is Frances... 6 generations.... But only My direct female line, none of these 6 generations had more than 1 girl. Everyone of us got Frances as a middle name!
My name is Marie after my great grandma that died a week before I was born. My middle name is Elizabeth after my mom's middle name Beth. She went with Elizabeth because Marie Beth sounds funny. My dad was in charge of picking all of our names which I thought was cool but no way is my husband going to have that freedom.

My parents considered naming me after my two grandmothers: Rose and Leigh, only they were going to make it Rosaleigh. They changed their minds and used one of the grandmother's names and an aunt that my mom always loved to get Anita Elisabeth. I think it's cool to be named after someone.
I was named after my great grandmother, so was my mom, so there were 3 generations with our first name. My middle name was my grandmothers maiden name, which is kind of a tradition in my family. My son has my mom's maiden name as his middle name as well. My sister was named after my grandmother and her middle name is the same as my fathers, which is an old family name Huntington.
I am always so late to the party...but my middle name is the middle name of my mom's coworker when she was pregnant who was also pregnant at the same time. The coworker's daughter's middle name is my mother's middle name.

My name isn't an exact match for anyone but it was inspired by family members. My first name, Marjorie, is from my biological grandmother, Margie. Her name was actually Margie, it wasn't a nickname. My middle name, Kathryn, was from my adoptive mom, Kathy. Again, her given name is actually Kathy.
My first name, Anna, was my paternal grandmother's middle name (one of them anyway) and my maternal great-grandmother's first name. My middle name, Jolene, is from the Dolly Parton song. I guess my mom listened to her a lot when she was pregnant with me. It's funny that's my middle name because i do have the red hair and green eyes, but I'm not a man stealer. haha
My first name and middle name were those of my paternal great-grandmothers. My mom swears it is just a coincidence but my dad says I was named after them. Who knows.
Hey, me too! Except I got my name from my maternal great-grandma. Crazy!
Re: s/o Were YOU named after someone?
If I would have been a boy, I would have been Wallace Edward (last name) the Third.

Bobbi - My father and maternal grandfather were both named Bob
Jo - My mom & maternal grandmother's middle name. I've already told them that the Jo stops here!

I'm the 5th generation of my name on my mom's side of the family. DH is named after both of his grandfathers.
We're really considering going with a non-family name, but I feel a ton of pressure to keep these family names up.
Hey, me too! Except I got my name from my maternal great-grandma. Crazy!
