update on my little boy

Colton was born 6 weeks early on 4/6. I had posted about his birth a few days later. Well he is ALMOST at 3 & 1/2 lbs. Today he weighed in at 3lbs 6.4ozs. I had a meeting with his team, & found out the murmer is getting louder, which hopefully means it's getting smaller. I found out why they are upping his formula, even more slowly then they do with most babies his age. if they up it too quickly he could go into heart failure. if that isn't scary enough he has a hernia & needs surgery to fix it, soon. before his testicles decended they had attached to the abdominal wall, & when they decended they brought the wall down with them & formed a hole/pocket & now his intestines have filled this hole. he also will need surgery when he gets alittle older, his foreskin didnt form properly & if he wants to be able to "pee like a big boy" he will need a minor surgery, but its still anestesia(sp?). Now on to the good news, he is up to 24 ccs of formula every 3 hours, he loves to eat & is gaining weight really well.

Sounds like he's making progress! Avery has a hole in her heart as well. She is on diuretics to lessen the fluid in her lungs that is caused by it. This will also bring her O2 % down and maybe she'll not work so hard to breathe and gain some weight. The hernia does sound scary. I'll be thinking of you.

I'm glad to hear that he is gaining weight and that he loves to eat. I'm sorry that he's got a few surgeries in his future.
