Holy Vertigo, Batman!

I was lying down and just starting to doze off and got hit with a major vertigo wave. It felt like the whole bed was spinning and I was falling backwards. Jerked me completely awake and I gripped the pillow like it was an anchor. I laid there for a few seconds until it passed. Then, I sat up...and wham, hit again. Waited until it passed, and stood up. This time, it was only a little wobble. I decided to soak in the tub before trying to go BACK to sleep. Wonder what brought that on so suddenly?

Re: Holy Vertigo, Batman!

  • i am diagnosed with Pregnancy/Positional vertigo because the twins are positioned on some circulatory something.  i forget what they said, but i have the same feeling as you.  sometimes ill be walking and the room will spin and i wont know if im crawling of the floor or walking along the wall.  i once almost fell down the stairs not even knowing i was near them.  scary stuff.  i was put on bed rest since week 29 because of this...

  • I had this a couple times last week. Fortunately, it didn't last. It certainly doesn't make the nausea better. That is my current nightmare. I am downing Zofran like candy at this point. And my sciatica in the right leg is so bad sometimes, my leg sort of gives out when I get up from a lying position. Just a few more weeks, right?!

Hope you feel better and that this doesn't become a consistent symptom.

  • Since Dr Google says it'a a sign of Preeclampsia, I'm going to call my OB. It only happens when I lie on my left side, and I've been stuffy so it could be sinus related. But...better to be safe than sorry, right? We've always been concerned with me developing it.  Call her and see what she says.
  • i had vertigo on and off about 2 years ago and just got it while pregnant.  Mine was actually due this time to a viral ear infection, i never would have thought that : )  after a few days it went away completely.  best of luck!  It's miserable being pregnant with vertigo!
  • I am so sorry you are experiencing that.  It has happened to my mom and she was miserable!  I hope it passes soon!

  • I had it during the beginning of my pregnancy.  It made me so sick and I would almost fall over when I got up.  I ended up going to physical therapy - only took one session.  She also gave me an exercise to do at home if it came back.  It went away and I haven't had issues since.

  • I called my OB and within five minutes, the nurse called back and told me to come in. Apparently, for once Dr Google was right. I'm currently waiting for the nurse practitioner.
